If money really isn't an issue, then by all means go to law school if that's a passion of yours. If you're going to need to live off of future earnings, I'd stay put.
Not worth it financially
That's fair. What if finances aren't an issue. (Let's just assume that...)
I think you can start a new career path at any age. It's not too late to do what you want to do, but just have the expectations of what you're really going to get out of it. If practicing law is a passion of yours then it doesn't matter how long it took to get there. I wouldn't do it though for any other reason because you will have a difficult time starting over.
@D2 that's not true. Just read an article in WSJ a few months back about how Watson is being trained to read through corporate documents. Corporate law will be one of the first industries that gets automated. IBM Watson can no research legal guidance and apply to legal contracts. Through machine learning, this will only improve in the future. Corporate Le departments in the future will be top heavy, with all the research performed by super computers and a few people at the top to evaluate the results.
If you wanna go law school don't let anyone stop you!
Don't listen to these haters! There will always be naysayers (especially when you want to make a big change). You still have a lot of years of work left so why not be happy? You only get one shot so give it a go
"When I grow up" 😹
Just follow your heart. Talk to people in other professions and etc. I know a guy who is 44 years old. Just switched careers. He is a 1st year associate now at a mid size accounting firm. Anything is possible
No
I mean I guess if you want to. Depending on what area you plan on practicing in don't expect a meaningful reduction in hours or stress
Go for it man
No ... Don't go to school because of mid log quarter life crisis
Law associate hours are even worse than auditor hours. What kind of masochist are you?
I think there are too many lawyers as it is. Most of them are broke. Only a few make the big bucks
Why not
I'd say no. Even with finances not being an issue, do you want to go back to school for 3 years, only to come out and be placed in a hyper competitive job market where if you didn't go to a top 20 school or didn't graduate top of your class your left on the sidelines without a job? Generally your early 30s is not the time to start a new career path.
May not necessarily be extremely difficult having solid work experience. Unless you're looking to get into criminal defense, you could work your way into MnA or corporate law no problem. This assumes you perform well throughout law school, though.
No, too much hassle unless you think it's your calling and you'll be happy, but keep in mind it's a grind and low pay for a while
^ Same can be said about accountants
