Hi Everyone,
Was hoping to get a hand or advice. I had submitted an application the Travelers for a marketing position in early November, resume shows received but nothing else. Is there someone that works there that could direct me to a HR email or contact person? Have had nothing but a positive experience working with Travelers in my last two roles as an agent and then an underwriter would love to have to the opportunity to work directly with Travelers. Any help would be greatly appreciate is!Travelers

It’s nothing new...find your people (black, white, yellow, red, purple), surround yourself with them, and only interact with the “others” when you have to.
Do you and try to make the world a better place if you have the time or money to give.
Agree MC1. Nothing new. Been in the game almost 20 years and quickly learned that for us we are working with people who would prefer we are not here. Always harder to get staffed, put on significant projects, be asked to lead important initiatives and just in general values as an employee. We are seen as interlopers and diversity hires. With that said tho, I have also come to feel extremely empowered because for this reason as someone mentioned, we have to be twice as good. Always better and as I climbed I watch my peers, some of whom have climbed faster but they are always nervous and scared because they don’t know $h1t and never had to be challenged. it does suck because it’s not just our coworkers but also our clients. A hard road indeed but we can do and do it better.

I don’t think this app has revealed anything we didn’t already know, just reaffirmed it

So true. One mistake I made (while still being new) and it was blown out of proportion. The senior cc’d managers & other colleagues to see what I did.
It’s almost like we have to be super perfect or be categorized as dumb.

Yes, that’s true.
Yes - 100%. The recent social events surely made closeted devils show their horns. I mean that guy in his jaguar who accelerated into a crowd in Seattle killing folks, seriously?
So, so common.
This is sad, but so very true. We've got to be twice as good and work twice as hardto be even considered equal in most every aspect in this country.
Read threads in the corona bowl at your own peril.

This app has simply confirmed what we already knew to be true. I’m not even disheartened or discouraged because it’s what I expect from them.
It’s hard to confirm... but I’m pretty sure I deal with it myself.
@MC1 - right! All suspected WS until proven otherwise.
When are we as a people going to stop depending on others for employment? I haven’t had to deal with racists at the workplace/office politics since I went independent. Unfortunately, a lot of black people in corporate America would rather complain about racism at the workplace than work these jobs for a few years, get the experience, be frugal, save, invest, leave and build a company with other black people. We’re too comfortable in unsustainable conditions.
Independent here as well and I haven't looked back. We still have to rely on clients for work though but if you are good at what you do then they have no choice but to respect you.
“You have to be twice as good...”
Keep working on yourself and acquiring as much leverage as you can.
Once you all stop worrying about people’s opinion of you, then you all will live peaceful lives. Honestly, who gaf?

I gaf because it matters. Denial doesn’t work.
