Just asking for informational purposes. What kind of work Data Engineers do in firms like MBB, Big banks, or Big4? What knowledge areas are tested during interviews?
Is it just me or do I feel that brand-level consulting (e.g., product strategy) is more interesting, on balance, than management consulting? But it seems like the market rates for these kind of projects are lower than MC projects. Does MBB play in this product strategy space, or is it mostly other boutiques and ZS/LEK? Like is there a consistent competitor set we’re bidding against?
Hello Ladies, so I am seeing someone like we have met for a couple of days and now we are in different time zones. I am trying to talk and have communication but he only speak when he is free. Also, he always keeps on saying that he has a lot of work (MBB) which I get it, but should you proactively try and take out time to have communication especially when you are in different time zones.
Currently a BA with about 1.5 ish years of consulting experience at boutique companies and looking to get promoted but will have to wait 1 year due to work politics. Is it worth staying or worth looking at B4/ MBB opportunities?
I’ve been working in cyber risk in the federal sector for a few years and I’m finding I enjoy “advise” projects much more than operate/implement (I’m guessing on the implement piece since I’ve done pursuits for it and seen the technical sections, but I haven’t done the work). If I wanted to pivot into a strategy firm and stay federal (or government in general), what firms would be ideal? I’m not basing it off prestige (MBB vs non MBB).
Is it possible to get laid off 1yr in from an MBB and get hired by another? What’s the story to tell?
Is mbb a path to a potential political appointment? If not, are there preferred backgrounds and or prerequisite experiences people know of? I’ve heard stories of folks from BCG/Mck leaving the firms to go work on campaigns and then get appointed but not much else
How easy it is to pivot to product management post 2-3 years of MBB consulting expereince? I'm mostly considering Amazon product and Microsoft product roles. Has anyone made the pivot? Can I please DM you to learn about your experience?
Im starting to see ppl moving to MBB for tax consulting gigs. Are MBB firms starting to expand their tax consulting services?
Is the staffing process easier/less stressful at MBB vs Big 4 vs Accenture/Capgemini etc.? Or maybe this is just how our profession is...
Could not find a recent thread with #s - what is a reasonable cash comp range for Portfolio Ops team coming from MBB manager-level (so into VP/Principal role depending on the firm)?
I recently received two offers: (1) Deloitte (S&O); and Accenture (Technology Consulting). Which would be more aligned to MBB/FAANG?
Moving from big 4 tech implementation to boutique strategy firm for huge comp increase. Long term goal is mbb. Would this move help or hurt mba admissions and mbb recruitment?
If you could ask the managing partner of an MBB firm any question anonymously, what would you ask?
Does Slack have an office in India?
How do you decide between staying on an account where you like the people, there's a good chance of promotion, but the work is boring (con'd)
Considering making a lateral move as a biglaw (Kirkland/Sidley/Cleary/Paul Weiss type firm) mid level litigation associate in a major market to a similar firm in the same market. I don’t dislike my current firm or work, have very strong reviews, and good relationships with some key partners. Main motivation for lateraling is for potential of a significant signing bonus given the current landscape, and general uncertainty about future at my current firm. Would appreciate any advice/insights.
Does high credit card balances and a low credit score come up in a background check for a PA job you accepted as part of the hiring/onboarding process?
DM me if you are looking for Infosys referral.
What's up with Ross sending us all these *congrats for interviewing, let's chat!* emails. I don't want to learn more about your school lol I just want the decision
Recently made the jump from mostly insurance defense work where my average billable rate was around $225/hr. Now the average billable rate is probably about $450/hr. Would I be able to get away with my insurance defense billing practices. I was averaging about 2800/yr before. Would that be cool in big law?

Once, the client made me look through 14 takes on a radio spot so she could find the perfect "the" sound she was looking for. the engineer played the same take 14 times back to back till she found it
Is there an appropriate way to turn down an assignment because it is non-billable? Two of the partners I work for keep asking me to write client bulletins and articles with them, which is great, but now I’m starting to worry about meeting my billable hours requirement.
Is dizziness a COVID symptom? Have mild to moderate dizziness for 5 days now, what gives??
How do big banks (Read GS, MS, JPM) decide on year end bonus for employees?? While negotiating comp. Should I focus on maximizing Base or Bonus, how does this impact future increments and overall payouts??
Is it okay to apply to an agency in order to work for a specific client? If so, should cover letter focus on passion for said client or focus solely on the agency?
New to EBTs—In a MVA case, plaintiff counsel has a video of the incident that has not been turned over yet. Can I wait to produce my client until the video is turned over so we have a chance to see it? Also can I show the video to my client before her ebt as preparation?
My full time job (not SMU) is literally making me sick-spent time at the ER. One associate quit and another is out of full paid parental leave (must be nice, I’m not paid for doing double the work)…so I’m now expected to do the work of 3 associates. My supervisor isn’t exactly understanding, and I don’t know what to do. I’ve been searching for jobs, but it’s difficult since my background is diverse and not focused on one area of law. If I quit, how hard is it to find a new job?
Articling student in Canada (8 month internship with potential hireback), currently doing transactional work. I’m WFH and having a hard time building relationships with partners. I’m friendly/chat with associates and am on great terms with one partner who gives me work often, but not much else. The firm “encourages” reaching out to partners to chat, though I’ve tried and been essentially ignored. Partners rarely have enough time to give me feedback, so I feel they don’t have time to chat.
So student loan no interest rates have been extended until May and I have a bonus of $23k after tax coming in this Friday. I was wondering if I should invest or pay part of my student loans off (78k total) now. Between now and May, I will continue to make my monthly payments but I am just not sure if I should invest my bonus and potentially pay more of my student loans off in May.
Has anyone participated in or knows anyone who has participated in the IBM DevOps Engineer summer internship? What was your experience like? Asking for my younger brother who will be interning in that program next summer!
