This bowl in a nutshell: people who think that universal healthcare is genuinely worse than kids in camps

No. They’re unrelated concepts. I’d have thought better for an accountant with a good company.

OP - this is a typical naïveté of the left to oversimplify nuanced issues and then call anyone who disagrees with you a racist. Agree “kids in cages” is horrific and not what this country stands for. But your lack of any analysis on how and why we are here is pathetic. One - what do you propose we do with the surge in border crossings / asylum seekers? Are you an advocate of open borders - if so, stand up and say so and we can have an honest debate about that. Two - the agencies have been requesting additional funds/resources for months and have publicly stated repeatedly they are not equipped to hold children for long durations of time. Dems did nothing to provide additional funds because they did not want to give Trump any wins on the wall. This is the real partisan embarrassment. Kids came last amongst the vocal left. Three - you have not spoke at all about root cause which can largely be summarized as failing countries in South/Central America and our flawed asylum process. Do you support reducing incentive to come to US so kids aren’t being sent unaccompanied and end up in cages? Lastly, the point of people saying “this started under Obama” is not that it’s okay for this reason but reinforces this is a complicated matter / even Obama had to face realities of finite resources.

The Republican Party is very much Pro Life until the umbilical cord is cut off then it’s your problem to deal with.

How would OP and Havas compare the morality of “kids in cages” to late term abortion? Which one is more palatable to you? I HATE mixing issues like this but it seems to be the only way to have a discussion with idiots who can’t debate one topic honestly at a time and instead pivot to the next unrelated one while someone hiding in the background screams bigot.

like

What is abortion is a deal breaker for someone? After all seems pretty sick to choose to kill.babies. Also if you have never been in or at least toured a concentration camp, please don’t compare to what is happening at the border. Lastly, obviously your goal in this post is just to vent your frustrations, but your need to vent and have a sounding board for your frustrations is actually contributing to the exact issue causing you frustration, bc ur attacks and comments do more to drive ppl away from democratic positions. Something to think about. If you are really interested in promoting what you believe to be the right morals you would find a more productive way of doing tnat

P1: We have tried to talk about what’s happening at the border independently of history, and then we get ignorant and flat-out offensive points of view like “oh, it’s just like a house party with not enough bathrooms” (quoting Fox from just this week). And yeah, none of us are “moronic” enough to think the southern border is directly comparable to the Final Solution. But, y’know, no one was talking publicly about extermination in mid-1930s Germany either. You know how it started? Deportation... Go study some history - because, as the saying goes, those who ignore it are condemned to repeat it. Ps: “very well possible”? Check the news. There’s photographic evidence.

Currently contributing 18% to savings (8% 401k and 10% to savings account) and also paying $2250/month for grad school. I have a healthy savings balance and am not expecting and need to use it anytime soon. Is is ok to cut back on what I put into my savings account while I’m in school? Feeling stretched thin and have always had the impression it’s bad to not be contributing to savings regularly. Thinking if I’m paying for school it’s ok to be less aggressive with savings. Looking for input.
