Depending on how the conversation goes I’m thinking about telling them I have some interviews lined up including a final round (which I don’t). I’m thinking about doing this to 1) expedite the process 2) help myself in comp negotiation as it shows I may have options and am not desperate (I have always been the one following up). Any downside to doing this?
Do not lie. Do not hype up upcoming interviews which really don’t mean anything. If you have a real, competitive offer by all means use it as leverage. Otherwise sit tight and wait to hear back, as you do not have the leverage in this situation.
My dilemma is that: recruiter told me: very quick turnaround, i should have an answer tomorrow. The next morning i email recruiter for some contact info, she says they loved me and i should hear whats next soon.. same morning, Hiring manager responds to my thank you note saying i should hear back within 2 weeks.. this bothers me as i dont like uncertainty and like to move on and focus elsewhere sooner than later. I generally always said i have an offer/interview lined up to push things to happen. If you gonna take me take me, if not- dont waste my time and get off my mind.
I would start looking at other places. Seems like you were the top candidate because you were the only candidate (until this other person coming on site showed up). There's a lot of great jobs out there, so best bet is to apply to other positions and maybe you'll find something you like better or maybe you'll actually have an offer from which to negotiate. Just got to keep grinding
Yeah I got exhausted from this process and kind of stopped applying. I also got rejected from two positions I applied for so I need to stop myself from making emotional reactions
Held the urge to follow up until today! But I will probably break the silence tomorrow as I was told they would be making decision mid-last week. This has been my timeline: 1/27 Final round on site 1/28 Thank you note 2/11 First follow up (where I was told they had one more onsite during the week of 2/17 and would be making decision thereafter) Someone, talk me out of it if it’s a mistake! At this point, I think my chances are slim but I want some closure.
