What I want to know is how many partners emailed clients yesterday to say “actually closing today/Monday is canceled because we’re all in mourning over Dobbs.” I’m willing to bet zero. So that just means another day for attorneys to work as usual, just without staff support. Nice gesture to staff I suppose.
I don’t understand people who complain about having a day off. Do you want “never took a day off” or “defended the right to work every day” on your tombstone?

It's a DAY OFF in BigLaw. I'd take it, even if you *agreed* with the SCOTUS decision. It's also realistic - after that decision came out, NOT A SINGLE SOUL in any industry, anywhere (aside from attorneys on pro bono cases related to abortion access) was productive on Friday.
