Why does Deloitte penalize its employees for paid time off? Is it fair that the denominator of our utilization doesn't account for PTO?

I wish admin utilized Tier 1 supports with teachers. Smiles, appreciations and acknowledging ones efforts would do a great deal to boost morale and climate. I just don’t understand what that is so hard to do.

Does having higher Standard Utilization helps in annual performance/promotions?
I am currently having 108% but unsure about how it will help me.

Have any respiratory therapists found jobs OTHER than being a clinical RT? I want to possibly change careers, but I am finding that a lot of jobs (clinical liason, utilization review, etc) want you to have a nursing degree, not a respiratory degree. I feel like as an RT we are limited to jobs.

Are you seeing any change in behavior based on the increased scrutiny on utilization and EM? I feel like there’s less teaming than a few years ago. Is that acknowledged as an unintended consequence?

In light of all discussions on FB, it seems to me that individuals at our firm have been removed out of EY beyond PIP related issues.

Do we have a chargeable code that we can bill our time to while we are waiting on a code to open? Its getting close to FYE utilization cut off so want to make sure I get credit for the hours pending.

What would you do if you have way less clients than your peers? Do you wait until you are assigned more clients or speak up? I'm a high performer but not utilized to my fullest capacity.

I got laid off with no warning. Reason given was my utilization was low at 81.8%. No performance problems. Would it be inappropriate for me to apply back to PwC to the teams I discussed rolling onto?

How is everyone staying motivated at work while going through fertility treatments? On days when I have appts or get my period, all I want to do is google and read forums about it. My utilization is tanking (not because I’m blowing off work, but because I need to find and take on new work) but can’t get the energy to). I’ve told my manager about what I’m going through and she is supportive, but feeling guilty when I hear about how busy everyone around me is and I just can’t find the motivation.

9 weeks after being laid off ... I got an offer today that far surpasses everything I’ve hoped for in consulting... low travel, no utilization worries and no sales bogey. I’m glad I kept my tech skills up.

Fractional staffing problems? My practice seems to have an issue where consultants are staffed across multiple projects to meet their utilization quota idea how to avoid this problem as a consultant?

Why isn't utilization part of your bonus? I get why it doesn't go towards performance...but if I'm charging 100% for the year that means I making the company a lot of money! Hook it up!!

INDUSTRY VS CONSULTING COMPARISON THREAD

Joining Industry has been pretty interesting. I’d love to hear about the little nuances you’ve noticed after making the switch.

I’ll go first:
- The concept of a “boss” is very real. This person is largely responsible for your career, knows your salary, and has influence in things like internal transfers
- The idea of working FOR your boss is also new
- No time sheets or utilization
- Decks and presentation skills are way less polished

Any other Deloitte folks get screwed in their year end rating because of low utilization since there were so few projects to be had earlier this year? Manager openly said it was "beyond my control".

I want to wait for cool projects but there is so much pressure for utilization.

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?
