This group really makes me appreciate my situation. I am fully remote at a remote first employer who does not care where where I work as long as it doesn't affect my residency and pay in the territory I was hired. (ie working in Costa Rica and Mexico 6 months but need to be back in Canada ever so often to maintain citizenship status)
I have an offer at faang (400k +rsu), also fully remote but this group really makes me feel it's a mistake to leave.
Any faangs fully remote up for a chat?
Youre living the dream! But if you feel it's a mistake in your gut, listen to it. Don't follow the money, follow your instincts
Better question how did you negotiate 400K? Please DM me. Thanks in advance ☺

Which company? Are you guys hiring?
For real! You’ve really talked up the current gig well.

That’s a great offer! Fully remote at FAANG sounds like it’s becoming harder to come by given the push for back to office. And $400k base + bonus (?) is very high.
Why do you feel like it’s a mistake to leave?
Seriously
Well I currently make 300 and rsus at a recent IPOs firm. Our stock is low key down but pleh. The faang is going to split soon so their rsus value could skyrocket. The base pay difference in salary is 3 or so k a month.
The reason I'm hesitant is I hear work life balance is hell at the faang, the average tenure is under 3 years so Id get less rsus than I do now and if I leave before year four over 3 years it's a pay cut actually.
Also I'd be tbe only remote l7 in my territory and my entire team values in office communication. It's very hard to be successful as a remote worker in those situations. I almost think they want to onboard me, have me fail and pip out as proof to their team remote doesn't work. Originally the role was in office but this faang doesn't alter compensation per geographic area so we all settled on remote as opposed to higher salary but it already feels like they aren't happy.
All that money though ugh
That is so tough. Honestly, I try to always listen to my gut.If you are feeling like it is a mistake, I would listen to that
