Not looking for your asinine opinion...asking a simple question, with some input.
I hear less travel, more responsibility, less stability
Work can be much more difficult to accomplish.... Fewer (if any) templates, gaps in subject matter expertise are more common, and you'll find yourself doing more work regarding the actual running of the firm. Almost left for a boutique last year, and this is what I saw and heard from their employees.
Similar to D2, you don't have the same support networks, training opportunities, and resources available that a larger firm does
I was at another big 4, left for a boutique, then came back to the big 4... I would say in general it is true that it's more responsibility, more work... high rish, high reward. My particular experience was bad because my immediate supervisor was a smart dude but not ambitious and I got bored. In the big 4 you have more options and your performance is not tied to one person. However I do sometimes get tired of the politics and I would go to a boutique under different circumstances. It depends on your vertical too, some business lines have promising small companies servicing the market.
