As an employee, I personally started putting what my title SHOULD be on my resume. They aren’t calling my current employer anyway. It helped me get a lot of interviews
Everyone needs to do this!
I constantly see posts here where someone says "I'm technically an x, but I do xyz, will I be able to apply for y role?". And the thing holding them back the most is their incorrect job title. If your employee is doing tasks OUTSIDE of their job title's description, they have the wrong job title and likely aren't being paid adequately for the work you assign them.
I see it a lot in sales as well...why does your employee have a BDR title but they're closing all of their business? Why does your employee have an AE title but they're responsible for mentoring and training new employees?

I haven’t been at a place that really cared what your title was externally represented as so long as it was within the confines of my daily duties.
My .02 is make your title indicative of your actual job, internal titles are irrelevant and more often most don’t care.
I think it doubles as an internal representation as well. If your duties exceed that of the duties of your job title then there’s issues w/ the internal representation of your job. For example, if i’m a product manager that is also responsible for email marketing for my features, other employees may see an email going out and contact marketing about a typo in the email
