This is a dumb question but I'm curious to know who makes the decision to invite EH applicants to interview? Is it HR eg for generalists or practice leads, in case of specialist applicants?

How do you choose references? The agency I’m interviewing with wants two professional and two personal references and I’m at a little bit of a loss. I have my professional references down but what’s the point of personal references? Who are you supposed to pick for those? Any insight is helpful!

I’ve had radio silence from a small investment bank for about a week now. I’ve completed several rounds of interviews, but last Thursday the firm reposted the job I’ve been interviewing for. On Friday the headhunter said that they’re not sourcing new candidates and it’s probably just LinkedIn automatically refreshing the listing. She said they had a busy week last week but will make a final decision this week - is the delay and radio silence a bad sign or is this typical for experienced hiring?

Generally speaking, how many hours do folks spend on case interview prep each day/week? How many hours of prep do folks have prior to the first case interview?

Interviewed for a GS-15 (same agency but different office) and totally aced the interview with excellent answers. They know I’m a top performer with senior references. However I noticed there was an internal candidate who has been there for few years and interviewed that’s a veteran. I feel my chances just sank and want to gauge thoughts.

Our group had 3 seniors leave during busy season and I know of 2 more that plan on leaving this summer. I also started interviewing but can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of guilt for leaving our staff/new seniors knowing next busy season will be absolutely brutal for them all. Help me feel better about leaving!

Was just asked by Plaid to do a take home assignment that would typically take 1 week, and give a 1-hour presentation. This is after 4 interviews. I feel so exploited that they even ask us to do that! So I told them thanks, but no thanks. Happy to invest 1 hour prep + 1 hour prez but anything more is exploitative 🙏🏼👋🏻

Interviewing for Sr scientist position at Amgen. My current salary is around 100k as management consultant (PhD with 2 YOE consulting). If I can negotiate salary of 150k, is there any reason not to exit consulting and take this job? I personally don't see consulting as being sustainable and I value WLB.
