This is how toxic big law is: I have covid and running a high fever, feeling like crap and partner is knows this and is still requesting a nonurgent bs 50 state survey to be done today.

Just say you are too sick to do it. Sh*t happens. You need to stand up for yourself and prioritize your health. Tons of practices are slow atm, so there should be someone else at your firm who can do it.

This. The more you put up with, the more people assume you will put up with in the future. This partner sounds like an ass, but depending on others to be kind and to respect your needs is a losing battle and will leave you disappointed again and again. Enforcing boundaries is the only way.

I had a 102 fever, chills, etc. and still had to work 14-16 hour days for weeks. And this is at a "chill" biglaw firm.

Hope you feel better soon.

Madness? This is biglaw!

Yeeeep. I've worked through three fevers in the last month, had a kid sick and home from daycare for a full week, stomach flu, and strep. Still billed at least 50 hours every week during that time.

Insanityyyy

I just read that fertility drugs increase ovarian cancer risk. Ladies who went through IVF/egg freezing, how did you go about it? After breast cancer scare a year ago, I am dreading anything that can expose me to cancer. I am mid-30s, single F and want to have biological kids one day. I know freezing eggs can give me some piece but on the other hand I’m afraid of increasing my cancer risk🙏🏻 (posted this on women’s bowl as well)

I am level 1 resource. Need classroom management ideas. We've been placed on a block schedule this year due to Covid so I have students for 85 minutes every other day. I have a larger group who are all working at different levels and have different goals. I am constantly jumping from one student to another trying to work them but I am failing. I can't keep them on task, quite, or motivated. If I walk away from one, they're immediately messing around. Group work is a joke. HELP!

I have a list of topics to discuss before pulling the trigger but want to crowdsource and see if I’m missing anything? (List in comments)

I'm about to leave B4 and received my CPA at the beginning of 2020. Due to COVID it took the board several additional months to get certified. I submitted approval for CPA bonus as soon as I was certified. I didn't realize when I signed it that I needed to stay for one year after otherwise the firm can force me to repay. I'm now leaving the firm short of 1 year from the payout date. Since the whole process was delayed due to Covid, is there any kind of appeals or dispute process?

Man this Bowl is filled with some angry mid-levels. We get it, this job was hard for you, but it is for juniors now, too. Stop punching down.

I don’t think the juniors are entitled, they just want to share in their firms’ wealth. Surely any salary increases for the Classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021 would easily pay for themselves through billable hours.

When we’re all comparing/complaining about hours at the end of the year are we including pro bono hours in that total? I’m nearing 2050 billables for the year but I have another 500 pro bono hours that should be added on. At the same time, I keep hearing about all these people straight billing 2,400+. Trying to determine if I should’ve tried to pick up more billable work to stay in the middle of the pack (i.e. not interested in partnership, just trying not to get canned).
