This is meant as a compliment to your superior ability to balance your life: How do partners have time for fishbowl? It seems so small compared to yalls lives?

I don't understand why you'd feel guilty? This is literally a stream of content of people who work directly in your industry. Coworkers and Competitors alike. That in and of itself is extremely relevant and important. People like Partner 1 bring even more value to the community as they share thoughts based on years of experience. I'd argue you can't afforded to NOT be on fishbowl

Agree with BCG. OP, you do realize finding success in any career is as much about being informed culturally and socially as it is about advancing one's expertise. You don't get to be a Partner living under a shell.

I feel guilty when I get on here. Like I should be using my time to further myself. I still do it bc I can. But then I imagine my SM or Partner on here and wonder how in the world they would fit this in. They are SO much busier than I am.

I work through a contractor, and was hired 2yrs ago to be a Systems Test Engineer II. They decided last minute to make me a Software Content Manager, but kept my title as is since it was supposed to be a 6mo rotation. I’m still an SCM, and am taking on leadership roles in the group. How do I ask for a title change and pay increase to reflect what I actually do? Do I ask my contract house, or my NASA mgmt? Should I ask to make the pay retroactive since I was hired to do one thing, but do another?

I had an interview a month ago. Checked in 2 days after the interview, and then 2 weeks later. Recruiter said no updates, but she will be in touch. It's now been 2 more weeks. Can I follow up again? Or will she be bothered since she said she would keep me posted. Seems like a long time for silence, but maybe I'm just impatient.

Please answer if you have worked for both and have significant first hand experience about the difference in WLB, annual hikes, work culture, any other observations.
I see a lot in of this same discussion but very confusing and repetitive answers.
So would like people with personal experience to answer.
Thanks in advance 😃

How many of you were direct admits to Partnership? From other consulting firms, or from industry? Was it a lateral move, or a step up/down?

The reason I ask is: I’m a Y3 Director at Big 4, always been a consultant and probably 2 years away from Partner. I have an offer from industry for VP at a F50 company, but am wondering about how difficult it’d be to boomerang back if it doesn’t work out.

Pretty highly rated consistently and up for director this year. For years been thinking of starting a business (franchise). Pandemic has put a dent in that but still viable option. Gross profit is 350k (median) and a line of business I’d be very interested in. Clearly this is less pay than new parter (but could open more than one eventually) and risk may be higher for failure. What other factors should I consider when evaluating staying to partner or trying my hand as an entrepreneur?
