This is my second year working in a SOC for one of the biggest tech consulting companies , before this I worked at a NOC. I don’t have a science degree. I’m 24->25 , need advice on what should be my next move career wise and education wise ; I’ve been contemplating getting my masters in cyber , many have told me I don’t need it . Any help is very much appreciated
A cyber masters is not a bad idea especially if you’re looking to get into CISO roles at some point. Certs are great for early career but a lot of F500 companies still look at grad degrees for leadership roles
What B1 said. Experience and certs alone can take you all the way to SOC manager, but to be a CISO, an MBA and cyber experience is the best way to go. If however, your goal is cyber thought leadership, then a master's in cyber from a leading program will give you the credentials you need and the depth of research in one particular aspect of cyber to hone your professional point of view.
Leadership positions in Infosec / cyber for past 15+ years.. no degree at all. As others have mentioned it’s only probably keeping me out of c suite - and I’m not looking to take home that much stress every night anyway.
