Are any recent grads happy in their jobs? Just started last fall and feel like I’ve received minimal support from my firm and not developing any real skills. Looking to switch companies but I’m not sure if it’s company-specific or just COVID in general
Any current/future residents of NYC rethinking moving there as of recent? Have always planned on doing a 1-2 year pit stop in NYC but feeling wary due to COVID, rise in [reported] crimes, CoL, etc. Not sure if I’m just overthinking news I’ve read (EG: the recent death of the Deloitte SM) but would love to get others thoughts and opinions.
Is Evanston good college town? I haven’t been able to visit due to covid so curious if it has decent restaurants, bars, and shopping
Well that was uneventful Holding UVXY strong, if it gets crushed I’m holding it as a covid play and doubling down on linger expiries
So if I'm correct, PwC is the only Big Four that hasn't done a huge round of covid layoffs so far?
Had some slightly atypical but severe COVID-like symptoms this weekend - tested negative with both rapid and PCR on Sunday, the day after symptoms started and the day they peaked; is it ok to go to restaurants/gym as usual? How likely is false negative PCR
Does anyone take naps during the day during covid given the hours we work, especially transactional. If so, how many naps? How long?
India’s Richest More Than Double Their Fortunes During Covid Crisis while Economic inequality in India worsened during pandemic year. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-01-17/tax-the-rich-in-country-with-biggest-poverty-surge-oxfam-says
Took LOA last year, multiple months. Recovered from burnout driven by long hours during covid. But feel like I'm now experiencing burnout in a different form. Don't feel drained but I'm just unmotivated to do anything in life and work. I don't want to eat, exercise, go places, or work. I don't want another break from work, I want to keep doing things (eg not so drained I want to take months off) but this seems like burnout and I don't know what to do.
Opinions needed: I’m involved in BPN (black professionals network) at work. We try to have events and touch points each quarter, but obviously because of COVID we haven’t been able to do so. I am trying to brainstorm ideas for connecting virtually (email newsletters, zoom calls, etc) and possible topics to be included and discussed so that it won’t end up in just a negative venting session. I would like to keep it positive and upbeat. Ideas/suggestions welcome!
Hi all, Has anyone used a report from at home covid tests to enter the US? Does that work?
honesty time: my wedding (indoor 150 ppl in NJ) is scheduled for May 2021 and I’m having a hard time visualizing it happening bc of how terrible things have been with COVID. part of me wants to postpone to 2022 out of fear but I know my venue will probably not let me postpone this early as they monitoring the situation as it evolves. how do i get myself away from my negative thoughts and start looking forward to my wedding? What are the chances 2021 weddings will happen?
If you live in the US, are you starting to accept the fact you’ll probably catch Covid-19 before a vaccine is widely available? Given the rate of spread in US
What is the push for at home testing? All the sudden there are at home tests available from the government and insurance has to cover the cost. This happened pretty quick. I wish I had the time and resources to follow the money because this seems out of the norm for what we have seen.
Anyone moved from Consulting to Product Analyst/Analytics kind of role in industry? Any inputs on the interview process, skillset and general tips are much appreciated.TIA
Hi MBB fish, trying to make a leap from a boutique consulting firm focused on healthcare, 6 years of experience. Is anyone willing to have a chat with me on how such a transition might work? I'm US-based.
Really not sure why I went to law school. I spent all that time and money earning the degree and getting licensed. I now go into work, and while I do enjoy what I do somewhat, I am always stressed and I cant sleep at night because I’m worried about messing something up. I look at my friends who aren’t attorneys and they not only have a much more lax workload and can have more fun during the week, they also make more money than I do. Why am I in this industry again?
Ratings on three projects - 3,2,2. Utilization - 90%... Proposal hours - 15... Firm activities - 43 hrs... I then get a YE rating of 4 😕 ... How worried I should be regarding the layoffs???
FYI, for anyone interested in facts from a reputable publication This is the house response so far : “While I recognize the sincerity of all members and senators struggling to find solutions, unfortunately the provisions sent to the House by the Senate yesterday most likely make matters worse, not better,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D., Calif.), chairwoman of the House Judiciary subcommittee on immigration, who sponsored the House bill. Be hopeful but real. https://www.wsj.com/articles/senate-passes-bill-to-clear-green-card-backlog-for-indian-immigrants-11607017647?st=mhqul26b9wbofz3&reflink=article_copyURL_share
It will take at least an hour to clear security this morning in ATL. I have never seen lines this long.
I was caught off guard at my compensation meeting by getting a raise to $100k but also getting a promotion. The raise was decent and it was the minimum I was expecting, but since I got promoted as well I thought the amount should have been higher. We offered a potential candidate $100k for my previous title. For future reference, how can I bring that up without sounding ungrateful and unappreciative? Thoughts?
Received an offer for a BizOps Manager role at Instacart for 108K base + 150RSU over 4 years. Previous big 4 consulting experience & smaller tech startup experience - 4.5YOE total. Current base is higher but lower equity potential. Any Thoughts?

I received a verbal offer from Goldman Sachs and after negotiating the salary I have yet to hear back. Is that normal? It’s been almost two weeks since verbal offer. Or is it safe to assume I’ve been ghosted by the recruiter?
My wife was informed a few weeks ago that she would be laid off as of end of year. She signed the paperwork and will be receiving a decent severance due to her tenure there. Now the company is saying they may have some other work for her to do for a few months and they could extend her contract if interested. If she says no, is she still eligible for her severance since she already signed her paperwork?
Was contacted for a Managing Director role in commercial real estate and was asked for compensation expectations. Very few data points I could find on the typical sources Glassdoor Etc. Any idea comp ranges at this level / industry? TYIA
