This is the first year I'm eligible (tenure-wise) to be put up for partner. I've done everything I can do to position myself but it may not happen, atleast not this year. I fear that would make me very bitter and cause me to look elsewhere (for context, I've worked here since graduating law school). Any one dealt with this?

If you’ve come this far don’t leave. There’s a lot that goes into voting in new partners and coming out of the pandemic might limit the number of new partners the firm adds. If you leave you’d need to build up years of goodwill a whole new set of partners unless you have a large enough book that you can lateral as a partner.

The last years as an associate and early years as a partner are the hardest years. Good luck!

like

Early years as partner mean lots of committee work, BD and other unbillables, but you still have lots of work /billables serving existing clients and partners. Lots of masters/feeling like you're still magically supposed to find time to get new clients while doing more client work and firm work than ever before. Also the letdown of making less as a partner than you did as a senior (have to buy into partnership/taxes change, if you are equity) and feeling like a glorified senior associate even after you have "made it". I tell you this not to freak you out. It's still an amazing accomplishment. But it is HARD at most firms.

like

Why would you look elsewhere? If you have the support of your partners, at least let them put you up when they think you have the best chance of making it. And why would you risk having to start over at this point? Partnership depends on a lot more than hard work...economics are key, and it’s not unusual for folks to not make it the first year they are eligible. Take your time - what’s the hurry?

like

At my firm very few people make it the first year. It’s just part of the game. If you actually want to be partner, leaving now is the wrong play. What year are you btw?

Hi,

I was recently laid off and got another offer with 10 days I joined the company but I was skeptical because it is product based food package manufacturing company. this is my 3 rd company.yoe -3.5 .net developer. Current with this different industry i feel if I took right decision and will it be ok if I switch again or should I wait for some time. They said they are going to start work on angular. Should i stay and learn it and become full stack dev and then later switch.

Hi Folks, how are you doing?

Hello all,

I have 7.5 years of total experience and around 4 years of relevant experience into Analytics.
Current CTC is 16.5L (fixed) and offer from Genpact is 26.4L including 10% variable.

Got a mail from Accenture that I have reached till HR round and they have asked to create a profile in their careers page, I did that and it's been 4-5 days no one has reached out, HR doesn't answer calls.

-- Is it usual to take so much time?
-- What's the ideal compensation I should ask?

Thanks

I'm actively looking for a new role (preferably Sr generalist etc), but can't seem to stand out among the crowd. Any tips? Louisville, KY.

I’ve been working at an ID firm since leaving my prior boutique firm in 2018. My prior firm contacted me and they want me to come back. I was able to convince my former boss to let me work a 9-5, M-Th schedule. I’ll have a billable requirement of just 1400 for the year and will be eligible for a discretionary bonus if I exceed that. I’m in my 9th year of practice in a medium size southern city. I told him I had to make at least $140k and he accepted that. Should I try to ask for more?

Just lead with Dewey, Cheatem & How is looking for…. Then I know whether or not to reply and I don’t have to play a guessing game of who it is. Also, if you know the salary range include that too.
