this seems like an unnecessary scapegoat/crucifying of a wedding. One of the wedding guests exhibited symptoms, then visited their parent in an old folks home, which is the ultimate location where 6 of the 7 deaths occurred. Why aren’t we having an entire article highlighting “Idiot with symptoms visited an olds folks home and killed 6 people”?

No one wants to admit that we should be focusing on protecting the vulnerable instead of doing blanket lockdowns on the whole population.

🤷🏼‍♀️ there’s bound to be a gathering where the guidelines don’t work and people catch the virus. What’s not listed in the article is the hundreds or thousands of other 50 person weddings that also happened that weekend where there weren’t any problems after. We all know the risks associated with these events now, the folks attended accepted that risk

This might be harsh but I think people holding indoor weddings with more than immediate family and a handful of close friends at this point should be named and shamed. Apparently some couples are now making vendors sign NDAs not to publicize the wedding, and asking guests not to post about it for fear of social media backlash. Mind blowing to me that people can take the step of executing actual gag orders without coming to the much simpler realization that their wedding isn’t all that important and can wait until next summer.

A1 I’ve attended many safe weddings this year. All the guests were perfectly healthy afterwards. So don’t assume they will all end in catastrophe and therefore you should shame the couple

In all instances the people who spread it experienced COVID like symptoms and still went to work or visits! Even the original wedding guest? Is that the what we need to focus on if you have a symptom - stay home!!

Great example of how stupid these arbitrary "no gatherings of more than x people" are. Everyone loses in a game of odds

I really do not understand my company's attendance policy. No sick or personal time and each time you have unscheduled PTO it's considered an occurence. Its super restrictive and during a pandemic you risk people coming to work sick spreading what could potentially be Covid. I just don't get it. I understand they are running a business but it just shows you really don't care about your employees at all but yet you want them to care about this company and the work being done here.

Why do you feel like this year is so much harder than previous years? This year was supposed to be easier than last year and it’s not 😭 The only reason I can think of is we didn’t have enough time to rest after last year. My school/district/admin is amazing and they’re wracking their brains to figure it out.

Networking question here. A retired partner at the firm I used to work out reached out to me recently about attending an afternoon during the week (b4 4/30) with one of his long time clients. The partner and I have kept in touch since I joined my new firm and I feel like his invitation is a great networking opportunity since the client (who I have worked with before) is on a number of boards. Torn as how to request off as an S3. Could materialize to nothing but could be good for reconnecting.
