The numbers of good cops is a vanishingly small number.

likeuplifting

M1 - Yes, we agree. Bad cops exist. We also agree the vast majority are not bad.

People take examples of bad cops or situations that should be corrected and want to make changes that are guaranteed to discourage good people from wanting to be cops (or at a minimum from taking any risks whatsoever). I think we’ve done enough over the past year to demonize the police, unless you think what’s been going on in major cities over the past year or so is a good change.

P1 - I never once suggested holding police accountable was a controversial point of view. Reread the discussion

I’ll bite on why this is a crappy idea with one that would be akin to what you are thinking.

If you could be held personally liable for recommendations you made to clients that did not pan out, how long would you stay in consulting?

What happens in a firm that has a pension pool if this is the case?

Why would anyone go to consulting over a different industry?

You mean like how McKinsey settled for more than $600MM for the role they played in advising Purdue on how to push more opioids and then canned folks?

like

No, not like that at all. It would be that, plus each individual partner being sued as well…having to pay those penalties for themselves as well as the firm, and then on top of that having a part of their 401k taken away (assuming they don’t have a pension)

It's more like 25% of your highest paying year but there are many variables. But there are more wealth accumulation vehicles besides the pension. Plus health care.

Accepted to work again as a Property Manager. I return to the property with high vacant, major repairs needed, maintenance staff that can’t work alone always as a team, and week one back I am expected to clean all this up!? It’s a mess! I accepted to come back at a salary about $20,000 more than what I was making before. I was New to the position so I know I was under paid. This position come with no benefits, biweekly pay and no commissions. Is $50,000 enough for the headache vs expectations

Definitely took the wrong job. I was offered a seriously competitive salary and great benefits to work at a well funded startup, which is great! Turns out the salary and benefits were meant as lowkey bribes to insure I worked at the company without actually doing any work. Every single suggestion I've made has been shut down and I've been ghosted for several meetings with the CEO. What should I do? Just leave?

Parents want to send their children back to school not only for educational purposes but also for social interactions. I do understand that many children want that interaction with their friends and teachers. But I don't think it is going to be quite as rewarding as many think with social distancing and face coverings to be safe. No high fives, pats on the back, sharing earbuds to listen to a new song, or consoling an upset friend. Even facial expressions are lost. Tough times.

Found a most enlightening work on decolonial history with tons of TIL moments especially about Anti Colonial movements in Egypt, China, Japan and course India in the 19th and 20th centuries. Most histories this period often adopt a Euro-centric lens but this book flips it and tells the stories of these turbulent times from the vantage point of the pioneering Asian leaders like Tagore, Al Afghani, Kang Youwei etc. Lovers of Asian history would surely appreciate this book

Just wanted to know how difficult it is to get leaves approved and officially before how many days do i need to inform my manager?

Is there any SOP for applying leaves at Infy?

Thank you in advance!
