This might be a dumb question but what accounting/ finance jobs can’t be outsourced to India? What is unlikely to be outsourced?

Anything involving technical research and writing. It’s nearly impossible to get a memo back from India without it being a dumpster fire. I don’t envy them though. I couldn’t imagine trying to be technical in a 2nd language.

Some concepts common to America I have been learning my entire life without even knowing it, because it is ingrained in our society. If you have never “lived it” it will be much harder to learn and will take longer. I know one language (English) and one culture (US) so I am very ignorant myself.

I was a management accountant for a company that had a large team in India. While I'm sure some pieces could have been passed off, there was a lot of coordinating with business leaders and reporting that didn't make sense to move. It's not always a matter of whether it can be moved. So I would say the more domestic coordination required, the less likely it is to move. Biggest reason why client services (audit/ consulting) won't go overseas entirely any time soon.

Have been fortunate to get offers from BCG and Bain (both in the SF office). I’m not interested in PE work and want to specialize in tech instead. Any info on office culture, body of work in tech, and exit ops from these two firms in SF? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Few tips to improve your visual design skills

- Learn Typography: Typography is essential because 60-70% of user interfaces are about written content displayed in a meaningful way.

- Learn Layout and Composition: You don’t need to be pixel perfect, but if you place labels 10px above inputs, you must do that consistently across your whole design.

- Learn Color: Color doesn't need to be complex. Understand how colors interact with each other and learn how color can set moods.

Does anyone else feel like they are just falling behind with the price increases for our big ticket items such as cars and homes? Like I started working in 2017 and I realized I couldn’t make it the way I wanted on $105k so now I’m at around $250k and I got some rentals but all of the homes in my area have doubled in price since 2020 so from $500k to $1m or above so I feel like I’m still just as financially tight now and cars seem just as unobtainable as when I first started.

I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼

I have about a year of recruiting in the staffing industry and 6 months as an hr assistant for a corporate/manufacturing company. MA in Hr and will be testing for phr in July. Thank you

Does anyone have a boss or leader that nitpicks at everything you do, and also doesn’t recognize your work? Do they tend to have favorites? I started at this company fairly recently, as well as some members of my team. None of us has even been in the company for 4 months yet and we all want to leave because of our leadership team. I’m hesitant to look elsewhere since it “shows that I don’t stay at the company long,” but my goodness we are going insane!

How does a sole engineer at a company go about getting management to actually care how production machines run? I’m the only mechanical engineer at my company dealing with a half dozen cranky production managers who think that I can “work my magic” on a machine.
