This might be a silly question, but I’m joining a local project and want to get a notebook. How do I ask my project for one?

I’ve always just purchased my own. Just think of the $100 I could have saved myself over the last decade... You can also attend trainings and local office events - they often give out branded notebooks as swag.

Wow this whole time I was picturing a notebook.. as in a laptop.. bro, smfh..

Your going to need VP approval on all procurement

likefunny

It took me three weeks to get a charger approved for my laptop so you might be on to something 😂

Do yourself a favor and just buy one or ask your manager who will then probably judge you

likefunny

Start with asking your manager, then work your way up until you get a yes. Feel free to post response from Rowland once you get up there

like

Yes it’s a silly question. You either get one from the local office, or you buy one and expense it consistent with your companies policies on such things.

likefunny

Local office doesn’t have notebooks, and our policy doesn’t touch on it. For a management consulting company, you’d think they’d clarify their policies and make it easy to access. Or just stock local office with common sense supplies

like

Get that shit from the client office supply storage room.

likefunny

Just buy one? As someone who worked in industry before consulting I don’t understand the constant need to expense everything, in my last job if I wanted something that wasn’t standard in the supply closet I just bought it myself, don’t understand why that wouldn’t apply here.

Lol at trying to make this an argument about your employer not giving you the appropriate tools. If that were the case, go get a stack of printer paper, steal a pen from a colleague, and you should be good to go, and no one had to spend an extra cent to enable you to do your job. Also they sell notebooks for like $.99 at the drug store, treat yourself.

like

Steal one from your rival strategy firm. Its a rite of passage that will put you in the good graces of the partners and VPs at your firm

Is salary that low at Accenture that you can’t afford a notebook...they’re like 79 cents at Walmart.

funnylike

Def not... we’re eating good over here 🙃

They have a stash of ACN branded notebooks in most offices. Just make friends with the people at the front desk

like

Search the portal for BuyNow. That is Accenture's in house procurement system. Order what you need and charge it against your wbs. You can find notebooks in the Staples catalog.

like

There are free notepads at the office. Nothing fancy but it works

We get free ones that look like elementary school supplies. More than one PPMD has asked me why I have a little kid’s notebook in meetings with senior execs - “Cause that’s what your cheap ass gives me. Pony up"

NYC office has free Moleskins for Strategy if either applies to you

I mean if you're gonna go under from a $5 notebook... Just buy it and expense it. It will either be approved or not... Then you can reevaluate if you want to go through some more formal approval process. And at this rate, you might as well get more than $5 worth of supplies.

Just expense it to your project. For little things like this it's better to just do it rather than wasting anyone's time asking. Noone is getting fired over $5, and we budget nonbillables for a reason.

Indeed. Many of our lower level team members do not have access to non-billable codes. So we would either expect our internal financial teams to catch it (unlikely) or it unintentionally gets passed through. I’ve personally seen this happen a number of times. It’s not the end of the world, but pretty silly when we’re talking about a $5 notebook...

I am in a phase of a project that is 12+ hour days - I know it’s only going to be for a month or so but balancing the smallest of other tasks is making me stress the f out. Im usually a list/planner person but even that is stressing me out. How do others handle these phases of work? I know it’s temporary but still 😵‍💫

Okay something kind of weird happened. Started a new project today with all new people. We met in person today and manager left for home after checkout around 5PM. This girl screams at me in front of the whole floor “you are so fake!! you are not going to workout. you’re being fake.” I’m just standing there in shock like what? She’s like “what are you even going to do at the gym”…

Also, in EY I will be asked to work in client location. Where I might get into difficult situation Anyone would like to comment on this? Is my decision of selecting wipro correct?
