Yes, you're the only one. No, it's not inappropriate.
I’m in agreement with you.

Since OP apparently thinks fraternity only means frat... 🙄
From the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
Definition of fraternity
1: a group of people associated or formally organized for a common purpose, interest, or pleasure: such as
a: a fraternal order
b: GUILD sense 1
c: a men's student organization formed chiefly for social purposes having secret rites and a name consisting of Greek letters
d: a student organization for scholastic, professional, or extracurricular activities
//a debating fraternity
2: the quality or state of being brothers : BROTHERLINESS
3: persons of the same class, profession, character, or tastes
//the racetrack fraternity

Fraternity very literally means brotherhood. From the Latin: ‘Frater’ = Brother
Given the historical context it can almost always be assumed to mean an all male organization. (Unlike more neutral terms like society, fellowship, guild etc.)
Sexist AF
It’s sexist, whether or not it was intentional, because fraternity has clear male connotations (it literally means brotherhood). I’m a woman and no one has ever said something like this to me when I’ve gotten a job or promotion. Also, this isn’t happening in a vacuum, there are tons of examples of consulting firms being “boys clubs”. For a male partner to post this to another male partner given the above is inappropriate and exclusionary toward women.
If you're gonna redact the image at least do it right. Can make out both names pretty easily

Fraternity is sometimes used to describe a formal group consisting of friends. I don't think they're meaning for it to be similar to a Greek house on a college campus.
Yeah, I think this is may be an American concept? Where I come from fraternity simply means community or group and we don’t have any concept of fraternity or sorority in colleges.
Ya that’s weird ...
I agree, it is inappropriate to call it a fraternity. Whether intended or not, it’s clearly a word that implies an all boys club.
Take a chill 💊
Yeah, this is a gang

^^ D9: are you part of the the fraternity ?
May be you are interpreting the word with a narrow frame of mind
MC1... Regardless of what college I attended, I am just more aware of the English language!
The thing that's wrong with Deloitte is one Indian dude congratulating another one for making partner? Is this you talking about that caste system bias that people were discussing recently on here? I sure do hope you're not trying to race bait this as if it's a wasp lacrosse Chad bro problem here.
C1 when you read this thread if what you wrote was your understanding of what happened you should probably not be in this line of work.
Sm1 I’m at MBB
My sorority in college was technically a “fraternity”. It’s a group of people. No need to make it political 🙂
How many of the people commenting that this is fully appropriate are men? 🤔

FFS. If all you have is a 🔨 then everything becomes a nail.
Whole thing is a country club interview
So much talk about the sexist element of fraternities and no mention of the fact frats are cults
You’re triggered over the use of fraternity? Really?
Thank you for not redacting. I can tell what happened here. Not being a native English speaker, HE does not understand the meaning of the word. If you don’t believe me, ask him what sorority means. 😁

C1 you're stupid af if you think they'd openly share something like on LinkedIn if they actually believed it, especially during today's cancel culture climate. You people are all vultures, looking to tear people down with absolutely no evidence of any wrongdoing, just assumed wrongthink.
Fraternity is not exclusive to men so not sure what the issue with this being sexist is?
The term “elite fraternity” or “fraternity” is commonly used for men and women in military service, sport, academic fraternities, etc.
Yeah, even as an American this seems like pretty selective language policing and seeking to find offense where none is intended.
I was an academic honors fraternity that was co-ed and many sororities are actually in fact, fraternities.
People posting the literal definition of fraternity have not experienced the Deloitte culture as someone who doesn’t comport to the norm. No one walks around and says things like “welcome to the fraternity” meaning like “welcome to the team of senior professional architects”. It has an elitist and homogenous meaning to many people and this post is symbolic of what’s wrong with Deloitte at the leadership level.
