This time last year I knew I needed to stop drinking, but I couldn’t. This year, though, I’m putting my health first. Starting day 2 of sobriety and hope to keep it up. Thanks to this group for all the support and encouragement shown to those of us struggling with such powerful addictions.

Almost three years sober. You can do it!

like

Congratulations to you!! Thanks for the encouragement.

10 months sober here quick lessons: it’s all about changing habits, perspectives, priorities. Keep focusing on how you want to change verse your comfort zone whether that’s using for a crutch, anxiety/depression, or being around same people and places that are going to snap YOU back to where you’ve been and decided you don’t want to be. Cheers mate!

Congrats! If you haven’t already I encourage you to find some AA meetings where you live. The AA website has a meeting finder!

This means a lot. Thank you.

You might find a day tracker like I am Sober to be helpful. I still check mine from time to time (just checked and hit 900 days today!). Also, literally everything gets easier in sobriety - not just the staying sober part, but relationships, finances, health, work, all of it. Hitting meetings is absolutely helpful but if you can’t, try finding some of the AA talks on YouTube or listening to some podcasts. Feel free to DM me for links. I also HIGHLY recommend getting a sponsor or temporary sponsor as soon as you can.

I’ve been wondering this but has anyone had any long term health effects from consulting? I think with all the long hours, stress, and everything else that comes with it that it is likely to have physical and mental health effects.

My husband and I have a huge combined family. They are also...well...loud. By loud I mean, laughing, debating, talking, all in good cheer. But sometimes arguments can erupt, and there's really no shortage of entertainment and sometimes drama. Should they (a) invest thru a financial advisory firm like Edward Jones (& pay applicable fees) or (b) simply invest their $ in low fee mutual funds or (c) something else entirely?

Serious question: As a Registered Nurse with 11 years sales experience, why am I constantly turned down for healthcare-related sales roles? Yet on the flip side, I've gotten tons of offers in industrial or engineering spaces. I've worked PRN as a nurse while I've been in sales. All of my sales roles were engineering-based in mechanical tools or chemicals. I've sold into various industries (energy, O&G, aerospace, pharma, HI&I, water treatment, etc). Just looking to get back to my roots.

Should I still try to negotiate salary after accepting a offer? It is from Accenture for a security analyst position. Since I’m basically a new grad I assumed negotiating salary wouldn’t be worth it.
