I am currently in the middle of "Transforming the difficult child"- the idea is that we do noticing, not direct out compliments for those babies who haven't had kind words said about them in a while. So far it's been really informative and valuable
There’s a Facebook group. New and Beginning Teachers Workshop that has been gathering a lot of resources
Feel free to check out the resource thread! I’ve posted lots of ideas. All of the strategies are meant to help build resilience. I know this is kind of a long watch (17 minutes), but it is SO helpful, especially if you’re working with a lot of children who have significant trauma. It’s basically language to use to take children from fight or flight to their front/logic part of the brain so they’re ready to learn. The whole Conscious Discipline YouTube channel has great examples of strategies in action: https://youtu.be/cjVJV7G8x3s
Definitely try to go with a restorative practices model. When you set values and guidelines for the circles, they become the values for the class. I also use academic circles for instruction. It has transformed my classroom

What grade are you being moved to?
I teach in a similar setting though it is high school. Have you looked into restorative practices at all? The resources are amazing. I would also look into Yoga Foster and Social Emotional Learning resources. There are some really excellent ways to build up a community there and I always reference them to new teachers who teach in NYC and DC (the communities where I have taught)
