You’re allowed a max 24 weeks at a time for leave combined (beyond that you’ll need business approval and I think Deloitte’s not required to hold your position for you). It’s not necessarily 6 months as each month is ~4.5 weeks. 6-8 weeks STD (depending on your state + delivery) + 16 weeks FL. If you have normal delivery another 2 weeks can be PTO to total to 24. The resources on DeloitteNet are actually quite detailed if you read through them.
1800DELOITTE is also available if you want to properly check your eligibility.

Small correction to ASM1, FMLA / job protection is different from the leave benefits. Leave eligibility is immediate but FMLA (job protection where Deloitte holds your job) is only available when you have at least 1 year of service with the company. FMLA also only applies for up to 12 weeks of leave.
Otherwise, the week breakdown ASM1 outlined is exactly right. I’m currently on maternity leave. I had a c-section so I have 8 weeks of short-term disability and 16 weeks of parental leave (no need to add PTO at the end) which takes me to the max of 24 weeks in the first year of baby’s life.
So if I have a normal delivery can I get 2 weeks of STD or have to use PTO?
This is so helpful. Thank you!
I thought we had to take 5 days of PTO before STD? Honestly the benefits are so unclear to me. From my math I calculated 5 days pto + 6-8 weeks STD depending on labor + 16 weeks family leave. I was really confused if the 5 days pto was part of the 6-8 STD and asked MetLife and they said it wasn’t twice. I still don’t believe them… also I haven’t heard anything from MetLife since I submitted my request. Anyone else?
I did submit my approved request and no one said anything lol! I double checked with multiple people, assumed it was a MetLife policy not Deloitte… sigh
