I grew up at BCG and I’m now a PwC strategy partner.
At both firms, I’ve averaged right at 50 for hours worked.
Hitting that number requires accepting a certain amount of risk: specifically, I work 45 hours most weeks and then sometimes something blows up and I spend 90 hours fixing it that week. In those weeks I often lose my weekend.
It’s very much a choice — some people like to work 70 hours a week and cover all the bases and have almost no risk of spontaneous dumpster fires. They have much steadier workloads and less variability. But it’s not for me. I accept the occasional dumpster fire of a week as the price I pay for making as much as I do and still having time to live my life.

I average 40-43 hours per week (government), the most I've done in a week is a little over 50.
Occasionally I'll do work on weekends but really only if it's something I know I didn't get done in the week that needs to get done.

65-75 would be my guess at yearly average. It’s been more and every weekend lately, no boundaries and ridiculous demands since we’re so understaffed
I would expect most to be in the 40-55 range.
Realize that this will tend to vary more by practice, type of work, and skillset demand for that work than the actual firm, except for the MBBs who do tend to have more employ with higher hours.

The thing with Big 4 is I think this depends heavily on the practice.
I do almost all DD’s. A typical week for me is probably about 60-70 hours (9-10/11 on m-th, 9-5/6 Friday, a few hours on the weekend). A slow week is more like 40 hours, a bad week gets over 80 hours. I’d say I typically average 2-3 hours a weekend on my laptop, but it’s really more like 0 hours 50% of the time, 5-6 hours the other 50%. Basically just depends on what weeks have reports due on M/T as opposed to later in the week.
Due diligences typically are worse hours though. Most people at Big 4 I think are going to be a little less during the week, and no work a majority of weekends.

I rarely work on weekends. That my
personal time, which means I do maybe more work on the weekday than some folks may do. My M-F usually is from 9-8, with a handful of days working till midnight..
So I average around 55-60 hrs per week.
~55/wk avg, weekend work 50% (usually just a couple hours - nothing crazy).
In GPS consulting, State & Local (can speak from personal experience that it is much higher burn than Fed).
When stepping into new role: 50+
When having a grip on my role and team: 40+
Never on weekend (1-2 times in my entire career)
My team (risk modeling/econometrics) gets tasked to audit during busy season. Non-busy szn is 40-45 hrs/wk. this busy szn I ended up on audit + regular but managed to stay under 50 hrs other than 1 spike to 55. Last year I had several 100+ hr weeks and a 4 month period of 55+ that really sucked. I’m doing much better at balancing these days.
