Is it normal for your boss to just make you move to a different location or contract regardless of whether or not the person wants to? For example: my boss tried to have me moved to a different location and when I said I couldn't because I was unqualified, he tried to move my coworker on my team. He's trying to do so without regard for how it will mess up those that stay...

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

I'm done getting paid 1/3 of the class teacher pay and expected to teach the lessons. The other Paras in the class seem to think this is normal. I certainly don't get the same respect as the teacher. Am I alone here?

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

How do you all *actually* set boundaries at work, especially during busy season? There’s a lot of advice out there about making appointments for any personal plans (workouts, dinner, etc.) and treating them as you would work appointments, but then you get the pings “hey we just got comments from the partner on XYZ, can you address them asap?” And pushing back on that for other stuff that’s not an emergency would get frowned upon. I feel like I’m running myself ragged - senior if that’s helpful

One of the customers complained that I was too slow (I'm dyslexic, I'm doing my best!) so my manager stepped in to help her. I thought I was going to be in really big trouble. But after the customer left the manager told me that I shouldn't be too hard on myself, "sometimes customers are just being jerks" and I felt so grateful. Not all supervisors are unreasonable, some of them are actually quite understanding. I don't know. It just surprised me, it was really cool.

I am finishing up at an agency end of June and another agency reached out to book me for a 3 month job that would need to start fairly soon. The job I’m on now has been shot and edited and is going into testing and then we will do the color and mix. What is the proper freelance etiquette in the situation? Can I go to the agency I’m at now and tell them someone wants to book me through the end of August or do I just have to say no to the new agency?

I feel like half the time getting your work made or ideas out there is just having a firm opinion. Obviously don't be an asshole but like most of the time if you just say "I think this one is the best because of xyz" people will just go with it.

2. My team is having an 2-day offsite meeting in another city and many folks outside of our team are all traveling in for it. Some are only attending for an hour. Career advice needed: I'm at $140K per year and have 40% equity in a company. I will only get the remaining 60% equity if our company is bought or goes public. But I can walk away now and keep my 40% equity.
I got approached by a competitor who will pay me $186K per year (so more than a 30% increase) and will also offer me equity that won't fully vest for 4 years (so essentially 25% year 1, 25% year 2, etc.). I won't get any actual money from this equity unless they are bought/go public.
