P1 Airbnb sends you a tax form if you generate income over a certain amount. There isn't a clear answer but there's a good chance Airbnb will be considered as your second employer for whom you're working, essentially jeopardizing your H1B status.
P2 How would that work? I thought the guest pays Airbnb, and then Airbnb pays the host.
If you have a roommate maybe have him post and then pay you?
Shouldn't be a problem, I have friends who did that for a while, filed taxes and eventually got their green cards approved. As long as you pay taxes there shouldn't be a problem. It's not like they have you as an employee on their payroll. I would say it's a safe gray zone.
Interesting question OP. I'm not sure from immigration or H-1B perspective but PwC certainly requires us to report any employers besides PwC for independence and risk reasons
