Law school = too many loans and opportunity cost to make the same money you could make majoring in business
I’m more so saying just average of all law schools and average of all ugrad business schools (assuming you put in your work when you are there); and giving the business ugrad 3 YOE. with law school loans, I feel like it’s probably just not worth it
Went. No.
Yes. I reconsidered it at 45, but being a new lawyer is a young persons job.
I learned that the law fits me. Aristotle, reason devoid of passion.
A bit of drudgery thrown in, but that is everywhere.
No. Reading case law is fun, but practicing it sounds like a WLB nightmare.
Honestly the cost and WLB required to make it +EV is such a turn off
Thought about it, still considering..... then I look at the loans I still have 😭
My hubby has been an atty for 25 years and has college-age kids from his previous marriage. He is actively trying to dissuade them from even considering law school!
My husband went but only after he got his masters and knew the specific area of law he wanted to go into. He had a firm job lined up and saw it as a required credential, not a way to delay adulthood for three years. Because he went on eyes wide open, it worked well for him but he has lots of friends from law school who no longer use their degree
Part of me wishes I would have gone straight to law school because I would have been able to get my law degree at a young age. Also to be honest once you are in a career like consulting you get used to bringing in a decent pay check & it’s hard to put that lifestyle on hold for 3 years.
I considered it and I still think about it, but I don't know if I'll ever do it.
Almost went. Did business instead. Almost went again but stayed in business.
Now I plan to open my own business or franchise for that cost instead and likely will make more and be happier.
Depends - Yale Harvard Stanford? Yes.
I will say my husband’s hours are way worse than mine, though I think I’ve got great hours for consulting (40-50 not including flights). At the same time he makes way, way more than I do.
