GT1: you're getting played! In the last 12 month I've taken 30 days off and my utilization is still around 92%. GT's FTO (flexible time off) policy states that you can take as much time off as long as you meet your utilization goal (ratio of billable hours to standard hours[40hrs per week]), which for seniors is 88%.
My first year as an associate I took about 30 days off.. the next year I only took about 20. My rule of thumb is to figure out how many PTO days were given at each level and AT LEAST take that amount of time off or you’re getting screwed.
You can I my accrue like 96 at BDO starting January 1st... Maybe it's time for me to leave for a new firm 😂 😂
As a partner at GT we focus on outliers. Those that take a significant amount of FTO, and look at their utilization. If they are hitting their utilization goals we don’t have issue with it. We also focus on those that aren’t taking FTO and follow up to find out why and help to get it in their schedule if they need it. We have seen an increase in overall time off being taken since FTO was rolled out compared to PTO. People that are afraid to take FTO need to talk to their coach about it
My comment was to GT1.
I took 25 days off. I think under PTO I would have had 21 days.
Absolute trap. When they say unlimited. It’s proven people take less vacation when offered that because you feel guilty for having it. I worked at a tech company and they looked down on people for taking it
3 days in 27 months.... Not joking.
144 hours I believe is our goal for time off, so around 18 days (144/8). That’s at least what I know from my coach.
^which I think is less than what they allotted for PTO before they switched lol.
GT8, damnnnn!
I had 26 days before it switched to unlimited def haven't hit that
I’ve taken around 15 as a senior 3.
A girl in my office took 34 days and no one said anything to her. I took 23 days this year and I was 98% utilized.
I've only taken 5 days. I miss actual FTO since it was easier at my office to take time off that way.
GT7 and GT8: I sort of dont feel sorry for you. You need to be more assertive with getting your FTO. You're only hurting yourself because GT isnt going to do it for you. Dont ask for FTO; tell them your taking it and in your cases (GT7 and GT8) I would add "or I quit" to every request.
GT1, really? When I was at GT the policy was “less than the office average"
EY1. I can’t speak to your office. I know in mine it hasn’t been an issue. And where it has had challenges it is because people are making assumptions and not talking to the right people like the local practice leader that can assist in situations you describe. Sometimes there are client issues/needs that cause us to come to a different answer, but that is the exception not the norm. Sorry that you had the experience you did
A1 and A2 year, took a total of 29 days off (between the two years, wanted to look good my first year). As an S1, currently will hit roughly 25 days by our year end. As said above, take the time off when you have a chance, just make sure you hit your utilization
I get 25 days with KPMG. Last year I took 10.
