Those of you with a toddler - what do you do when you go on vacation in terms of getting around? I really don't want to rent a car because prices are absurd now, but seems impossible to use any kind of ride sharing.

We used a thing called the mifold in places like NY or DC where we would use taxis and then be on foot most of the day.

Depends where you’re traveling. If the place has good public transportation, I would bring a very light stroller and just walk around all day and use public transportation when needed. If you can afford it, the safest best travel carseat is the wayb, the mifold is not actually suitable for toddlers but if push comes to shove better than nothing.

Look into Turo. Airbnb for cars. Way cheaper than a rental and still covered by most insurance plans.

Reminder to everyone: use your 2021 vacation time. Don’t let it pass you by just because you’re not traveling. Take a long weekend once a month to nap and eat chips in sweat pants all day. We all need to do our part to normalize self care, and sitting at home doing “nothing” is just as worthy of a vacation day as pina coladas on the beach.

I’ve been waiting for security clearance since July and just found out I’m pregnant after trying for a year. I’m hoping clearance will be granted in early spring 2021 and I can start work soon after. Thankfully taking unpaid time off isn’t a big issue (won’t be eligible for FMLA or parental leave), but worried about timing and telling HR & my supervisor. I’m planning to tell them once I start; know timing isn’t ideal and stressed about starting off on the wrong foot. Any advice?

Sooo ready for the holiday party on Friday.

I’m moving across the country (FL to CA) and I’ve decided I’m going to drive. My job is pretty flexible so I can work really whenever. What would be the most ideal way to drive across country and also work? Drive during the day (8-10 hrs), work a few hours at night? I’ll probably have to use some PTO aren’t I?

Need gift ideas! I’ve been crashing at two of my good friend’s place for the past month and a half and I want to get something to thank them for letting me stay/holiday gift. Budget probably in the $100–150 range combined for both of them. They are both pretty outdoorsy 24 year olds so I was thinking something along those lines but can’t think of anything. All I have so far is a nice bottle of scotch. Please help!

Advice needed: I’m a SR CW looking for my next move. After hours and hours of applying and shuffling through job postings, I’m intrigued by the possibility of making a move to UX writing. My current company offers an education stipend that I could use towards an online course. After much research there are several courses that offer an “industry recognized certification”. So my question is, what’s the ROI on earning this certification? Should I go for it or just learn UX on the fly?

Just downloaded this app and notice a lot of consultants making significantly over 100k. I’m mid 30s, just got my MBA a year ago and started a new job and still not over that six figure mark. Feeling a little behind in life- reading many 30 year olds are making 100k+. I have extensive experience in healthcare (pharmaceutical) in Tableau and SQL. What jobs or companies pay over six figures for Business Intelligence roles? Or should I be seeking different types of roles to make over 100k?

A1 here. I used to really like accounting. Liked it in school and had no issues with the CPA. Loved tutoring people in accounting . Absolutely do not like auditing - I feel like I am not using any accounting knowledge and I know it is not for me. Also do not like the PA culture. Is this normal and are industry accounting / financial analyst roles better? When should I look to leave?
