It’s that time of the month and symptoms are so bad that I want to request PTO and take off for the rest of the day. What’s the most appropriate response to give to my male boss as to why I am requesting this PTO? Do I just be blunt or should I say I’m experiencing “lady problems.”
Hi all. Does anyone has any feedback what it's like to work at Fingerpaint? Wondering on culture, benefits, time off, atmosphere. Thank you in advance
Denver Fishes - I need some serious help. I am on vacation here when I got an email from my future employer Accenture to get i9 authorization. They are asking me to find a person to be an authorized agent who needs to be present physically. All they need to do is state that my passport is right or something. I don’t know anyone here. This needs to be done in the next two days Would anyone be interested in helping me out? Coffee at Huckleberry is on me if you are!!
How do you handle going into a new job with pre-booked vacations. Has anyone ever negotiated vacation days going into a new job?
Attempting to renter the workforce after a 2 year hiatus due to health issues followed by the pandemic. During this time off I had minor success running a small business, but not enough to pay the bills. I have 3 YOE, 1.5 as a Loan Officer, and 1.5 as a consultant within compliance and Fintech. Please let me know of any fully remote positions, or hybrid positions based out of Chicago or Milwaukee. I live in Dubuque IA, so for in office work it would have to be in Dubuque. TIA!
Need quick help 🐠 fam, Is a suede blazer with dress pants and tie appropriate for a holiday party? Never been to one... attire is business causal/ cocktail? Thoughts, leaving in 1 hour, TIA
Starting MBB soon and would appreciate any recommendations on preparing myself for success on my first day? I’ve got a number of weeks until I start and will take some time off, but I’d also like to stay sharp and come in feeling confident. Any suggestions are welcome.
Think anyone will notice if I wear the same dress to the holiday party for the second year in a row? It stands out but was expensive so...
After 2 weeks of PTO, I don't feel rested at all. In fact it made me realize how much I look forward to being retired..
Working remote this month. I was planning on visiting family in Vancouver for a few days next week, does anyone know if it's against policy to continue to work remote? Would rather not use PTO...
Post holiday party hangover is real AF right now
Currently interviewing for a role I am really interested in. I have saved up a lot of PTO this year (expires dec 31) and was going to take the last 2 weeks of the year. How do I communicate this and of course I only would mention it if I get an offer right?
Contemplating booking my parent's hotel for an upcoming vacation so they get my Platinum benefit (would call the hotel and say they would check in before me)... concerned I would have a work (cont.)
I need perspective. I was scheduled for a bunch of spa services today before a vacation. Early in the morning, a spa lady calls me to reschedule. I tell her I can’t reschedule due to my job. She replies that she remembers me mentioning that from a previous appointment she “helped me rescue.” She never acknowledged knowing me prior to that comment. I was offended as it came across as judging my stress level and availability based on a service I received years ago. Did I get unreasonably upset?
Denver Fishes - I need some serious help. I got an email from my future employer, Accenture, to get my i9 authorization done while I am here on vacation. The issue is that they need someone to be an authorizing agent, a physically present adult who can verify that I have the documents(passport card). This needs tp be done in the next two days. I don’t know too many folks here. By any chance could someone help me out with this? I can send you the info and coffee/lunch is on me.
Hi mamas, how do you handle a sick child when you cannot take the days off? My son is 18 months, just started daycare and he’s been sick a lot. I just changed job, so I don’t have enough PTO to take, but I’m able to WFH. Husband cannot work from home or take time off since he has a big deadline at work right now. How do you handle a sick child but also get the work done? We don’t have any families live close by neither.
Any recommendations for budget friendly grocery shopping in Honolulu/Oahu? In person at Walmart vs. Foodland vs. others, Instacart delivery, farmers markets — is there a big difference and is it worth going to multiple places for different items while on holiday?
Any insight into Jackson Lewis? Especially the smaller offices? Do Associates generally get promoted to Partner? Do they match 401K contributions? Quality of life? PTO?
Vacation plans? What's everyone doing this year?
Interested in getting others perspective here. Senior consultant but received an offer in healthcare industry for more money and an upgraded title. TC for the offer is about a 25% increase, with the base being higher than my current TC. Currently working on a high profile client and have a decent chance of being promoted to manager next year but will probably go through hell this year to get it and it’s not a sure thing. Should I take the money and run?
I see people saying they are a SC 1,2,3 etc. what does that mean? I thought it meant amount of years in the role but recently saw a post of something being hired in as a SC4, is there anything on our profile or on record that I can check to see where I am? Do they take note of where you are on the spectrum when you start or is this just recruiter talk
Not sure if if this would be helpful to those furloughed, laid off due to C19, but here is an open source document of agencies currently interviewing. Please edit, add as needed.https://docs.
One of friend is urgently looking for a non tech role in any of the companies? Can any of you has any leads here? How to start what to do? He has lot of experience in Desktop support management outside US and he worked as a manager in retail for couple of years. Any help would be really appreciated.
Saw another putrid Chili’s “baby back-baby back” jingle/food porn spot, reminded me: my former agency pitched that POS & they said “If you show us ‘baby back’ jingle ideas, you’re out.” So we didn’t.
My friend gave birth 1.5 months early. She kept it on the dl due to some finds in the ultrasound. It’s her first child and he’s in the NICU (developmental issue). I want to send her something but am at a total loss. For any moms here, any ideas? Don’t know if she didn’t disclose earlier because the child’s survival odds are rare (his issue is very rare and there’s not a lot of medical literature on it). TIA
KPMG 🐠! What is the salary range for MDs, not living in crazy COL cities like SF or NY? I know D is in the mid to high 200s. I heard MDs are at $400K+. Would like confirmation.
Trying to switch job, currently in tech consulting at big 4 under H1B. Is it easier to get H1B transfer approved for roles that don’t have people management responsibilities? I thought I heard that somewhere
So got client dilema: Did business case last year. Erased data. Now clients wants to pursue. New business case I rebuilt doesnt match at all. Current upside is 25% of prior year. I am pretty sure I made a mistake last year Do I present the new case, do I play crazy? Do I quit the firm in shame and move to south america? What would you do?
1. Is it true that McKinsey & Company has a 2 year ban? 2. If I am planning to matriculate into an MBA program this fall and got rejected by Mck this spring, does this mean I cannot recruit for their internship? 3. Would changing email address do anything?
How do I get started with investing in real estate? I know it’s a broad question but I am 24y/o and looking to diversify my investments. General advice, book recs, it all helps. Thank you.
What do y'all think the chances of getting hired by a European office of a Big 4 (not one from my current employer) as an American citizen are? I'm guessing slim...
Since Covid happened, I keep seeing posts about people working longer hours from home than at office. Well has anyone actually achieved the opposite, which is working less hours? You save time on commuting, meaningless meetings, coffee breaks, random questions from coworkers, etc. This question doesn’t apply to parents with young kids.
Second year considering leaving NY biglaw for a few public interest options. Partly for mental health reasons. Making market, and I would potentially leave for a starting position offering around / a bit over $80k. Holding out currently to see what else arises. Fortunately I don’t have much debt, and that’s enough to cover my basic rent/living expenses, but not by much. Has anyone made a jump like that before? How did you manage financially if so? Living in this city ain’t cheap🙃
Is the CCMP (certified change management professional) a valuable credential in the world of consulting? I eventually want to exit to an executive leadership role in Healthcare.
Best resources to learn about financial planning? I’ve been allocating a portion of my income towards 401k and some mutual funds, but want to become more knowledgeable (considering major future expenses such as house, kids, etc). Any recommendations on resources would be greatly appreciated!
23, healthy, around 125k TC. Should I max my HSA? Remainder after EC would be 2400. Their 401k cont is half on the dollar up to 6%
