Anyone else feel a little uneasy that the industry press is praising a CMO who fired the agency who resurrected KFC, ran one of the most brutal pitch processes in years and has immediately made the work much worse?

Are you using a lubricant? If not, use one such as coconut oil or apply lanolin to flange before pumping. Do you have elastic nipples? If so, a bigger size might be better for you. I have went from a 21mm to a 17mm now to 15mm at about a year post partum. I knew I needed to size down when I was in pain from pumping. I wouldn’t say there is a transition period but I will say that not having a lubricant can cause pain. Having seen 6 different LCs, seeing one doesn’t necessarily get you the proper size. It depends on who you see, I found most do not know how to properly size for flanges or much about pumping. I learned a lot from following pumping Instagram accounts. Pumping should not hurt at all if done properly i.e. correct flange size, appropriate pump settings and time length
I recommend following pump with purpose on Instagram, she has been EPing for 3 years and knows a lot! She is also a LC that specializes in pumping. Also, I highly recommend the lavie lactation massager/warmer. They are pricey but make pumping easier and more efficient. Good luck mama!
The pumping groups on Facebook have tons of good advice. Exclusively pumped for 2 kids for over 3 years total 🥛 🥛 🥛. Coconut oil is awesome, also adds good calories. Lots of lactation consultants aren’t so good with pumping advice (mainly exclusively pumping advice, but some babies can’t or won’t take it from the breast - so inconvenient when they won’t take it from the source!)
Changed my flange size after months of pumping with the wrong size and having an inefficient pumping experience (I was using a standard 24mm and sized down to a 17mm based off of a rough estimate). No pain at all and the pump is much more efficient now.
It shouldn’t hurt at all.
Definitely second following some pumping Instagram accounts! Karrie Locher is great and has a lot of free resources. Mybreastfriend is another really good one. Some pump companies also offer virtual flange fittings.
