When I was on the west coast, I found that tech companies were willing to offer more than agencies. When I chatted with client-side reps on the east coast (non-tech), they’d even ask me “So you’re willing to leave all the big paychecks of advertising behind?” Their pitch was more about work/life balance, but you get the idea.
I have no doubt there's more security and other benefits--I just mean is it more money for a similar job. Thanks.
It depends. I interviewed client side and it would have been a significant drop in salary, but would have gained stock options for a very notable company.
I took a slight cut in base. the cheaper [and better insurance], stock, bonus, pension, etc will put me about 30% ahead at the end of the year and after my first raise will be back to where I was for base.
Definitely depends. One place I'm talking to would be same or slight drop in salary, but it's a non profit. A larger company I'm talking to would be a significant increase, even without the MBA they preferred initially. When I was client side before it seemed pretty similar but I was just starting my career then.
So much more money, plus stocks and a strong bonus structure
How much more? And what kind of business, and what city? Youre the only one who isnt saying it depends.
Salary is higher, plus yearly bonus & stocks.
Yeah I’ve interviewed a number of times and it’s always less. I don’t know why, because on here I hear it’s more for client side. So maybe there’s just no rule? I can’t figure it out but I’ll keep trying until someone pays me what I’m worth lol
I feel like the money in advertising is known to be pretty good, and yknow, how much more could it be?
