Biggest issue is finding out what to do with all the extra time. Life really seems to slow down.
+1. Had to re-integrate back into society and make new hobbies
Having to go to work each and every day all day every day / no work from home
That depends on the company... We get wfh each week
Thanks for your perspectives. Does this slow pace also apply to small/mid-sized tech companies?
The startups or smaller companies will be different as you have a lot more responsibilities and work closely with others...
It really depends on the company. I came from industry and the day to day was challenging on some days but there was a nice BAU feel to most days. Everything wasn’t always a helmet fire. People calmly handled problems without disrupting an entire team of people.
Colleagues enjoyed their work, nobody felt compelled to have face time with higher ups. Granted, weekly travel isn’t as common but if you’re looking to travel you should search out a role where that’s the case. I don’t think it’s boring to have a sense of stability around your job and see people happy with where they work and not constantly second guessing every choice. Also you don’t have anything to prove to “the client” so there’s no one chewing you out or 💩 on your work because they want to have a value add.
