It really doesn’t matter, when I’m reviewing a resume it can say Stanford mba or cal state Sacramento mba, it just a box being checked

Yes my comment is based on experienced hires not campus hiring, I’ve never participated in a campus hiring event

To know how competitive MBB, B4, and others are at MBA programs. But it's hard to see with just acceptance rates since usually people apply to multiple firms.

INSEAD, everyone who wanted it and tried got a consulting jobs. I can count exceptions in one hand.

I think you have to separate MBB vs. T2 vs. Rest. At my Top 15 only few got MBB, few more got T2, but most who wanted consulting was able to find something. As you go up the rankings the number of hires for MBB and T2 increase.

My personal definition of T2 includes the 3 you mention plus S&, EYP, Deloitte S&O, Alix, could go either way on ACN Strategy. Basically those paying close ish to MBB.

T25. 1 in 25 applicants to MBB make it through.1 in 10 applicants to big 4 make it through.

Ahhh that makes sense. The boutiques will definitely pick up the vast majority of people unless you're T15. That being said I didn't expect B4 competition (or even MBB) to be so very high.

Darden -- I'd say ~85% off those that really tried for Consulting got offered. Good majority (~60%?) went to MBB, maybe another 30% to Deloitte, S&, AM, and the rest to Accenture. It's somewhat easy to back into these numbers, though -- most schools publish their employment numbers and companies, as well as average starting salary. Since almost all post-MBA base salaries are public info/standardized, you can model out ballpark estimates of who went where.

@BCG1 - yup, definitely. My year, at least. A ton went to BCG DC and Bain Atlanta, McKinsey was spread around everywhere, and then you had people in MBB offices from Detroit to Seattle to Boston.

I went to a regional powerhouse state school. Most of my classmates went straight to industry, though off the top of my head I'd say the roughly 10-20% who went to consulting got into the firms we wanted to get into, ranging from T0 to MBB.

Tier zero, no name firms that aren't part of the accepted tier ranks

funny

M7- ~25% of people who try to get into T1, T2 consulting firms get offers. The employment report numbers are way inflated bc they count sponsored students.

Chico state MBA: MBB offers handed out like candy

Same general experience as S& 2. I went to a T10 and worked at a M7. About 50% going for consulting got it. About 20-25% got MBB. Don’t be misled by the #s schools publish - those include a lot of sponsored students going back. A significant number of MBBs offers are also international students who got offers in their home country, which is a different interview pool than US applicants.

I got my MBA from a top 10 school. I also worked at a M7 MBA program

I applied to all three MBB firms via their careers page with no referral. I have my final round with McKinsey, rejected by Boston, and no reply from Bain. The portal will not let me reapply for any position while the current app is pending. Thanks!
