Thought on LBS vs CBS. Post MBA goal: finance (i.e. IB/PE) in Asia

Looking to leave Accenture to join another consulting firm. I'm based out in Sacramento CA. I have an MBA and 9 years of software consulting experience. Looking for that hook up to get an interview.

I see a lot talk on MBA Reddit about NYC MBB offices as the most difficult offices to land. Is there actually a higher level of difficulty to land NYC? Or is it a bunch of unknowledgeable people spreading bs?

What is harder, taking the CPA exam or getting a puppy during busy season? What is more expensive?

It feels like the Fishbowl is full of 21-25 yos. with all these dating and MBA related questions. Ah to be young again.

Second year senior consultant, I have MBA degree from India and MS degree from US. Do you guys think, doing MBA from US university would add more value than Indian MBA degree ?

MD or MBA? I got into both. I know most will say choose the MD, but hear me out: MD: I'd have to go into a specialty to have a good IRR given my salary & the $200K+ debt. By the time I'd be done with residency the US may be in a single payer system. US doctors make 3x the amount in France and 2x vs UK.. I currently make what a doctor makes in France. That could be the future here, too. MBA: 1 yr. Europe. I'd make about 15-20% more vs. now.

I graduated with an MBA today. My mom immigrated to the US from Central America when she was 20. I lost her when I was young, but she planted a seed in me before we said goodbye. I feel like today I bear those fruits. Forever grateful.

I’m Asian, grew up poor, was running the cashier for my parents takeout biz starting 6th grade. I learned the hard way not to put my race down on my college applications. I was lucky enough to score Accenture consulting out of my non-target. Now I’m listening to my coworker friends (Hispanic and Black) who grew up rich in NJ and CT, refer each other to diversity programs that help with MBA admissions and provide scholarships, talking to each other about the money they get to save from it.

TLDR: junior associates just don’t get it. When I was a junior associate I couldn’t imagine telling a senior associate on the day an assignment was due that I had other more urgent deadlines and I couldn’t get to their assignment.
