Hopefully HR gets gutted first lol they’re useless

SA3, exactly. My firms consulting revenue was crushed as soon as the pandemic hit and clients tightened up.

They would rather outsource to foreign countries with cheap labor so partners can keep their fat paychecks at the expense of American employee in need of a job sadly.

I probably read too far into it but sure, I can understand that.

Big4 is not in the process of laying off - quite the opposite. They can't get people in fast enough to meet demand.

Could it change in 6 months? Sure. But it's all around client spending. If clients want to keep paying for services, then Big4 will continue to have work/hire

The exact same post as the one in OP’s screenshot was made right here in the Tax Bowl at the same time so it seems like someone at KPMG is dead set on starting a rumor.

like

Sure, but it’s a bit naive to assume a clear and definite answer is either available or would be given by HR over fishbowl, and the frequency of posting this question is a bit overkill.

Fire fire 🔥 real fire

Then why they are still hiring?

After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Anyone else notice a trend with the mass amounts of layoffs in tech? Why are all their resumes so jumpy? Not like 2-5 years jumpy, like few months at a time jumpy? But still can land a position with similar tech giants? IMO, lots of these people get hired by their rich friends, stay a few months before someone realized they aren’t qualified and were just a recommendation from a current employee. Then repeat that process over and over until your company is down 50%

Serious question:
Just got laid off and am getting a generous severance package. If I accept any kind of work - be it freelance or full time - will that nullify my severance. Or is that severance pay guaranteed until it runs out?

Hey team! So I was laid off from my SDR position about a week ago. A couple months back, I had an offer for a BDR position that I ended up turning down but I really liked and connected with the manager. Is it worth it to reach out? I applied to other positions in the same company. What about reaching out to previous co workers at a different company? Not sure how to navigate this… please help. Also I’m sorry if this is the wrong bowl to post in.

Hi ladies! Need your opinion and advice on a slightly awkward topic
I recently started dating this guy. He is really good in bed (well endowed, good stamina, great foreplay, etc). But he doesn’t cum after sex. Our sex routine normally ends at either of us getting tired after a long run but not him cuming. We’ve been together for the last 4-5 days and have done it many times (early phases of a relationship). And he came only once.
Is this something I should be worried about? Does this mean

I'm applying for a job at Company X. Is there a way to see what web/print advertising/collateral they have produced in the past? The work is not shown on their external agency's site. It's a smallish company.

I've done searches for Company X but have not been inundated with ads on Google like usual. I did find commericals on Youtube.
Thanks!

How do you not care / stress way too much about your job? I am a mom and stressed out most workday evenings thinking about the work / interactions during the day. I have heard TEd talks about compartmentalizing job vs personal life , mindfulness etc , but I don’t change. I could literally leave my job & focus on kids alone & be fine as husband is in a executive position. Yet, it’s my own career focus & my self induced stress and pressure that takes a toll on me. What’s your advice for me?

However a new role in industry might not be as easy either and I'll need to prove myself, where as currently I'm already regarded as a high performer and gained trust.

It seems like everyone is in agreement that switching firms gives you a salary boost, but that you could be viewed as someone that doesn’t stick around. Has anyone felt like they got held back from jumping firms every 2-3 years for the salary bump? I know peers that bounced around 2-4 times in a 7 year span and they are making significantly more money than if they stayed at their first job, however it didn’t seem like any of the new companies cared that they bounced around. Other experiences?

Is it me or does the newer generation value more intangible things that aren’t easily measured like work-life balance, fulfillment and purpose in work. Which makes it difficult for firms because that’s not something that is easily measured. Also, this is why there is “value” in crypto, NFTs and the metaverse. It’s a clash of the generations that value tangible things like money, houses, cars and one that values time, experiences, personal online image. Thoughts?
