In general, you won’t find amazing food in that area - skews touristy and/or Italian. That said, La Masseria is quite good - best of the “New York Italian pre/post show” places

If you go a little further north to near Lincoln Center, Rosa Mexicano (Mexican) and Shun Lee West (fancy Chinese) are both good. Those are my go to places when I see the ballet.

That’s what I figured. There’s probably a ton of touristy spots.
I’m in Chicago so I totally get that. People come for certain places that I wouldn’t be caught dead in!
Off the beaten path is fine. As long as it’s a short Uber away.

OP, all Broadway shows require masks and proof of full vaccination (or neg PCR test for those too young to be vaccinated). Some businesses require masks for everyone, and others say it’s optional if you’re vaccinated, but many New Yorkers wear masks indoors even if they’re vaccinated.
There are some great spots around 50th. Love kashkaval garden for large fondue and small plates. Norma for Italian, VIV for Thai. Lots of options all very close to theatre district
Some great spots on the edge of Hell’s Kitchen- Casellula, Pure Thai. Recently had excellent (and strong!) pre-show drinks at the Rum House. If you need a small bite beforehand, I usually stop at Los Tacos No.1 on 43rd (or Bibble & Sip on 51st if you want something sweet).
A little bit of a walk and haven’t been to this restaurant yet but it’s some of the same people as my fave, café china. If you’re looking for something a little chichi Fine and Rare is great. They have live music sometimes and amazing old fashioneds.
