Mutual funds are for financial illiterates, just get an ETF
C1 - there are legit reasons to go MF over ETF. If you are dollar cost averaging and need to purchase partial shares, for instance. Don't throw blanket statements around if you don't know what you're talking about.

Anyways I’m pretty sure OP isn’t looking at mutual funds to purchase partial shares, or else the question would not be posted here

That article is based on the assumption that one starts with a large sum of cash, vs. the more likely scenario that someone that is receiving periodic income (like a paycheck). Dollar cost averaging is not dumb under the more common circumstance of not have $20M appear in your bank account overnight.
