None. This concept has always seemed super weird to me

I wonder if people with contrary opinions are aware that they don't need to share them 🤔
Just wondering aloud, since it's clear P1 hasn't come across that essay yet.

I was thinking a necklace or ring with the birthstone but my friend just asked her husband for a new car so just didn’t know what other folks thought was typical :)

Even though it’s obviously way more money, a new car could be because what they have now isn’t baby appropriate. At first read I thought it was extravagant but it could be a practical ask.

What’s a push present?
I’ve seen it done in the US and U.K., but not so much elsewhere.

A Mercedes or a designer bag 💁🏽♀️. Congrats!
A nice SUV to fit that new car seat
I love jewelry because you’ll always think of your child when wearing it / it’s a lovely piece to pass down to them. My friend recently got a stunning 7-stone diamond band with her baby’s name engraved inside. So special!

A Brazilian wax
Is she your partner or your friend?
I’ve always loved the thin diamond band to add to your engagement and wedding bands (if you wear them). But as SC1 said, there is nothing you don’t deserve. good luck with delivery! (Or, congrats on the new baby!)

I’m buying myself a present when this baby gets here.

Something I think is interesting about push presents especially something large like expensive jewelry or especially a new car is - if you have a combined budget big ticket items like this just come out of the pot? I have a hard time feeling like big purchases are ever really “presents” now that I’m married and have combined money - it’s something we agree we can afford and can buy.
I’m not even trying to disparage push presents I just have a hard time conceptualizing getting a car as a gift from my husband in any situation - more like “we decided to buy a new car for me?” Idk interested in people’s thoughts..
Like unless we were so rich someone had 30k lying around in a random ad hoc savings account that wouldn’t be missed in our joint finances it’s just confusing to me.
