Thoughts on appropriate notice period for People Director role? Want to ease the transition but am excited to start a new adventure.

Generally speaking, the higher you go the more notice you might consider giving. In my experience, 4 weeks is not uncommon at the Director level. Congratulations on the new adventure!

Yes I was thinking 4 weeks and offering to consult back up to 3 days/month to support transition.

Stick to what it is in the contract and add two weeks if possible (depending on scale of handover). It’s a small world and you want to avoid burning any bridges.

Congratulations on your new role! Was just curious — what has your career/education path looked like to get to the type of role you hold now? Just from your title, your job sounds very intriguing to me. I have a degree in organizational management and have been working in recruiting/talent operations for nearly 5 years now but would someday love to be in a strategic people leadership position.

Depends on the country and size of the org I’d say. US even at the Director level, if it’s a large company 2 weeks is fine I’d say. 3-4 would be a nice offer if you’d like to maintain good relationships or have large projects or short staffed team .

Hey Guys,
Why is it difficult to get an offer abroad (esp. EU) for a role like data scientist?
Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.
My tech stack is Python, SQL and R.
YOE: 4.5 years
I get fair amount of offers in India but not in abroad companies. Is there a spectrum of skills on which visa processes are easier compared to others?
Thanks in advance.

Which pays better and has better career highlights, FAANG or BIG4 or MBB or big Inv. Banks. I agree it depends on person to person, but it adds value to resume, get LOR from Dr, VP or PI-AP.

Your thoughts.
I know even techies or mba people have worked and moved from these org and they have their reasons to take a big role in big4 or smaller role in tech just because of the pay and wlb. For eg PM profile and onsite opportunities associated with tech co.

Hello everyone,

While attending college I decided to work full-time, at the smaller company that I am working for I have worked my way up to being our Director of sale and operations…… earlier this week I sent out my résumé to a couple of companies to see what is out there and now I am interviewing for a VP of business development position at a larger company this week. I’m a little overwhelmed to say the least, any advice or resources that would help me prepare it would be great!

Do I address my interest in the CoS role, plus gaps in my experience or do I focus on the EA role and finding opps to add value outside of EA responsibilities without stepping on the CoS toes? need advice.

I have been working in an interim role as a portfolio manager. I was promised that the role would be mine. However, after doing the job for 2 months, I have been advised that we might not get the funding for the role and I might not get the raise and the title but my responsibilities will be the same.

Its a political minefield.

How should I back out elegantly that I need to be compensated fairly and competitively from this mess without burning any bridges

Recently accepted a temp role as an HR admin for a former employer. Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. She has since left the company, but there’s crazy turnover in the company & in the HR department in particular. Just that an HR coordinator resigned. Where does one go from here? Thanks in advance for any and all answers!
