I did an evening and weekend program before consulting and it was a lot to handle. Not a chance I could do it while working as a consultant
Did it. Felt like I missed out on the true mba experience, which is once in a lifetime. Plus, had zero life.
I am currently doing this. My mental health is suffering a lot. I would highly recommend taking a LOA and just getting it done in a year if you can.
Doing executive mba and working full time. It is beyond stressful
What it takes to balance both is to completely eliminate your social life. You’ll have maybe 1 day free a week if you’re lucky
This ^ I did it and always planned to have 1 free day a week to not do homework
Depends on the program. Do you have any specific ones you’re looking into?
Two of my brothers are during Online. One at Ross and the other at Marshall. The Ross-er loves it. The other one not so much.
Also, I don’t see them much anymore since they’re so busy with work and school.
Rising Star
That sounds like hell. Do a 1 year program.
Just finished a PT mba and I think it depends on how many classes you take per quarter and how soon you plan to finish. Totally manageable if plans well and your team supports.
What program?
Currently doing part time online MBA. I couldn't imagine doing it in person because I literally go straight from a meeting into class twice a week. Very stressful but being transparent with teams and projects is the only way to make it work.
Happy to discuss if you want to DM me.
You can do it - I did law school part time while consulting, and that was WAY harder than my MBA.
It is possible. Just be willing to sacrifice some of your free time. I managed an aggressive EMBA schedule (18 month) where classes happen alternate Friday and Saturday. I had a word with my SM and MD and had their support. I had to stretch extra hours on a many days either for work / assignments. To make things worse I had a change in location twice due to project. I kept flying mid west to east coast for classes every alternate week. The travel took a pause when covid started and that helped. I would say take good breaks. Glad it is over now!
What are the top programs offering online and executive MBAs these days?
I’m in the same boat...I got into an EMBA but just thinking how much of a time commitment this will be. Are people doing assignments every day after work or is it just weekends?
