Got an offer from a regional bank for an internal audit position. Would be about a 23% pay increase. Benefits are very comparable to EY with the exception of vacation which is 18 days (still not bad to me). What are some other things to consider as far as making the jump to industry? I know the progression isn't as good and name isn't as recognized. Anyone have success stories making a jump to a smaller company? Anyone done something similar and had regrets?

Hi there, I am looking for remote nursing jobs in New Hampshire. I have my compact nursing license, my BSN and have been a nurse for almost 6 years. Before that, I was an LNA. I come with experience. I can’t seem to get an interview for these types of jobs. Ill get eyes on my applications, will get a call back and then turned away due to having a compact license. For ex. I got a call back from A company out of Maine but says I need a Maine license. Anyone else have this issue?

True confessions: has anyone ever signed their client’s name to a document (in a transactional setting - I know zero about litigation), particularly where they’ve just signed a bunch of stuff remotely and you’re too embarrassed to tell them you’ve missed a document? Or because you’re under a crunch and don’t have time to go back to them for it? Not talking about anything other than say a manager’s certificate or other corporate authority doc.

New attorney here, I just started at an attorney at a smaller firm. There are 3 partners and currently I am one of two associates. We have 1 full time legal secretary and one part time secretary assisting her. We have 1 paralegal. My question is what kind of work/tasks are supposed to be/acceptable to delegate to the secretaries and paralegal in order for me to be more productive with my time.

If you are an associate assisting on a file, you get cc’d on all emails and take time to read them and stay up to date, however you aren’t actually replying to the emails or doing any billable work. But you need to stay in the loop for when you need to eventually draft a document and know the facts. How do you record your time for these emails?

Has anyone been in a position where they have been working on a case drafting all the pleadings, motions, and communicating with OC, but once your supervisor sees how much youve racked up in fees,tries to settle it before you can, so they can collect the commission/fees on it, instead of you. I’m incredibly annoyed because I’ve been practicing the same area of law for 4 years and my supervisor has been practicing for 8, but the previous 7 were in crim law. I’m so bad at writing the background/ facts section for briefs… it always gets heavily edited and no one is giving me constructive feedback other than “advocate more”. In contrast, my legal argument section is generally without edits. For context, first defense lit job post appellate clerkship. Is this normal?? Any tips for getting better other than “advocating more”?

My assistant is a nice person who has worked worth me for about 1.5 years. I have a solo family law practice, and she excels at dealing with clients, which is great. Unfortunately, her attention to detail sucks and it is making me crazy. For example, I told her to find the order entered that required OV to comply with discovery within x number of days. She comes in my office and tells me no such order was entered. It takes me about 3 minutes to find the order, which was about 2 orders (cont)

If you're negotiating a start date with a new firm and you need to give your current firm 2 weeks and want some time to yourself before starting, but you already have a vacation planned in the early fall, is it an issue to take 2-3 weeks before starting as long as you're clear that you have a pre-planned trip?

Gov attorney, 8 years out of law school and will make over $100k for the first time this year. Gov benefits are great and WLB is amazing (I have a wife and child). We are less than 2 hours from all of our collective family now. I have an offer with a small firm I am highly interested in. $165k base + bonus for only 1800 billable hours, but it is 8+ hours from our families. $90k in student loan debt left. Am I wrong for wanting to take the money?

Pfizer is 80% effective after the first dose and 90% effective after the second dose, according to a new real world study. Most ill effects are from the second shot. So I’d prefer not to take the second shot. Am I wrong?
