Currently have 2 offers on hand, coming from a big 4 advisory. Which one would be better for longer term growth in both skill set and salary? Goal is to go to industry in corp dev or M&A integration in 3-4 years or M7 MBA, but nothing set in stone.

Going on a year at an agency in Accenture and I feel like I’m not developing fast enough. I’ve had one main project but I’m waiting around for months to join other projects to reach capacity. They fall through because the client drags things out. I want to work towards a promotion but my manager says I can’t be put forward because I don’t have enough projects under my belt. I can’t control that because the agency sets the work. Any advice? Accenture

Extremely derailed convo imo. Cambridge or oxford will not give you half as many good job opps or half as good a student body / faculty that a top notch school like LBS will. Take it as you wish
There’s currently a person in my admitted class to Oxbridge that turned down a 50% scholarship to LBS. depends what you’re looking for I guess.
I got Cambridge MBA and It’s a great program. People talked about the cons above. Here are the pros:
1) Great alumni network of the university
2) Considered Silicon Valley of the UK. Not just start ups but companies like Amazon and Microsoft have offices there. Amazon develops the drone program there etc
3) Great experience with colleges and the historic campus
4) Low tuition
5) lasts 12 months
6) everyone is assigned to a real consultancy work with firms like google and gain experience during the year
7) you meet smart people from all kinds of programs. Not just business people like lbs
I think it’s just perception and it will change over time. I got a consulting job in the US and I am very happy I didn’t go to LBS because Cambridge overall experience was special. I dined with Stephen Hawking, met Nobel laureates etc. Besides I would have spent twice as much at LBS.
Why not LBS for 15 months? Much better brand and only 3 more months.
I get you OP. I’m international, so the Cambridge brand overall is stronger in the world. But the LBS brand is stronger with the actual people you’ll be working with
If 1 year is such a deal breaker why not INSEAD?
If you’re willing to stay a little longer than a year, then it’s LBS
Even Kellogg does 1 year
You really shouldn’t be going to Cambridge only because you want to do a 1 year program
OP I’m between an Oxbridge mba and Kellogg 1 year atm and leaning Oxbridge. Just a cooler experience imo. After being on this group you won’t hear anything supporting that decision as it doesn’t make sense on ‘paper’. It’s something you’ll have to decide to sacrifice outcomes for experience. Just my .02.
My experiences as well. And even when discussing with partners/mentors about getting an mba abroad, they confused lbs with lse. The schools themselves are not ranked as high but brand rec is much higher at Oxbridge to many is colleagues that are even consultant, in my limited experience. Pm me if you’d like to chat more.
