I know nothing about that school specifically – but what I do know, from experience, is that you get out what you put in. The best ad school is a name on your resumé, but the best book comes from you and that’s what sets up your career. Make contacts yourself and nurture them. Good luck 😊
I chose the circus over CPS and I do not regret my decision. That said I did all the work that got me a job. Just go and meet ppl once you have a book.
I know people who went there who said they wish they’d gone to a better program. One year isn’t ideal imo, but then again it depends on your financial situation. If you do go, just remember that it’s on you to learn faster. Also, hey “creative copywriter”, you sound pretty dickish to me.
If Creative Copywriter is who I think he is – based on what I’ve seen him post on here – then you’re right in saying he’s dickish.
Why should they set you up with a career? Sounds pretty entitled to me. Do you expect them to make your book too?
Are you thick? @cc1
If you have any doubt about going there, then don’t. If you fail to get a job afterward, you will just blame it on the school and not the possibility that maybe your book just isn’t good.
I know a few hundred people who have gotten jobs out of CPS. The success rate is much higher than then failure. But again, if you have any doubts about the school then don’t cheat yourself out of a 2 year program.
Nothing I’ve heard about CPS has been positive. Echoing SS1 above, go for Miami Ad School if you can
All depends what you put in, same with every portfolio school. If you have drive and some talent doesn’t matter where you go, same if you don’t have either.
Go for the best one: Miami Ad School. They have a solid network of renowned instructors that work in the industry. They are everywhere, so you can take advantage of the quarter away program and do internships/agency labs all over the world. (Disclaimed: this is not an ad hehe)
90 percent of places don’t do a good job of setting you up with a career after the program. Or setting you up with a good portfolio for that matter. You’re out like yesterday’s garbage. Creative Circus, Miami Ad School, VCU might be different on the other hand. But no guarantees.
I went to CPS and have zero regrets.Chicago is a smaller ad scene than it looks and you’ll leave with a ton of local connections. And your book will be good enough to get you in the door. The rest is up to you
I went to CPS and learned a ton there. Yes, the founder was a mess, but all the teachers genuinely want to help you learn and grow. It’s nice that the teachers are in the ad/design industry so you do leave with tons of connections and insight
I went to CPS a while ago, and glad I did it in one year vs two, just to end up with the same jr job. It did take more than a year to finish my
Book and some people did not seem as committed, as downsides. But I don’t regret it. I got paid sooner and started my career sooner.
To those saying Miami ad school is the best, I disagree. Solid school but vcu brandcenter is better and will net you a better job.
