I interviewed with Amazon for a corp counsel role. After the debrief, I was told the hiring manager would like me on the team but as an ACC, and I should hang tight for a few more days before they give me a decision. Today, I was informed the HM passed but is recommending me for another ACC role on a different team. I’m worried I’ll end up with no offer after initially thinking I was getting one. Has this happened to anyone else?

Were they international (ie, need work visas) by chance? Biglaw firms routinely exploit international students and relatedly, LLMs.
Based on the post they all have green cards and do not need visa sponsorship

International students get treated like trash. If we don’t treat educated foreign nationals how they deserve we will lose them to other countries smh
What happened to Cooley? Their public image has gone from bad to worse. A few months ago Cooley was praised for siding with its associate after Musk threatened to pull his business from the firm. Now it is a firm that started stealth layoffs, having unethical partners/seniors, no offer to summers, and now alleged discrimination?
Tbh Im not surprised. Cooley has a long history sacrificing associates when the circumstances arent in their favor. It treated SAs horribly during Covid. They didn't fully pay the SAs and then pushed back the 1st yr start date to January.

Can’t see post you’ve attached without signing up for that blog. Without knowing what it’s talking about as can’t read it, if you’re talking about associates from China who specialize in Chinese deals… there are a lot of regulatory issues with Chinese deals in the US so they’re drying up. Many Chinese companies are getting in hot water over disclosure requirements to list on the stock exchanges in america so they’re delisting. Doesn’t surprise me
I understand where you’re coming from, but just to add a small footnote that even if Chinese deals have dried up it should not be their excuse for firing Chinese associates. In my career, I’ve done Canadian deals, Australian deals, Japanese deals, Chinese deals, etc. The skills needed for these deals are all substantially similar. So even if these associates could not do Chinese deals, they can easily be assigned other deals.

Wow this is egregious.
Wow it sounds ripe for an employment discrimination lawsuit
