I finally did it. I quit and turned in my resignation in June. I’m now have been working from home for United Health Care. I wished I would have done this years ago. I started teaching right out of college 20 years ago and thought all jobs were as bad as teaching I was so wrong. My new job is not stressful I now have a normal life and look forward to going to work.

BLACKLISTING AFTER DECLINING OFFERS.
I see a lot of folks asking if they will be blacklisted if they decline the offer. Even if they did blacklist, are these companies some government authorities to fear? Also, you have not committed some crime to carry so much guilt. There are 100s of other companies who will want to hire you. As a job seeker we will always seek best for ourselves and it is fine to politely say no. Afterall, companies also know that we are potential hires.

How does a sole engineer at a company go about getting management to actually care how production machines run? I’m the only mechanical engineer at my company dealing with a half dozen cranky production managers who think that I can “work my magic” on a machine. It’s not magic, just ignorance about the machine actually works. How to I get a manager to stop caring about the end product long enough for me to actually teach them about their own machine?
