I do transaction tax at EY and the main clients I work on are PE’s … I wouldn’t want to be on the internal team imo, would be a lot of chasing loose ends and compliance

Do you enjoy doing tax at big 4 because if you don’t it’s not really any better going to a PE. You will do both federal and state in PE

Tax associate here who is masochistic and thoroughly enjoys writing long-form opinions, writing memos, doing legal analysis and research, but hates deal work and churning out documents. EY and PWC under scanner in UK yet again for auditing issues. Pressure on them to break up. Audit cannot go hand in hand with consulting. Tough times ahead for Big 4. They had too much rope which is now getting cut

I know all the salary posts are annoying, but I really think I am underpaid. What’s your salary for consultant level B, FS SE?

Family member is in their mid-70s still working FT but as an indep contractor and does not have employer backed retirement account. Income is close to $200k. Has reverse mortgage, some car loan debt, low assets, no life insurance. Has about $80k to invest. Should they (a) invest thru a financial advisory firm like Edward Jones (& pay applicable fees) or (b) simply invest their $ in low fee mutual funds or (c) something else entirely?

I have a student with autism. He is mostly behavioral and at a lower learning level so he has to be in a separate classroom. We try to let him play with the students at recess or join in class parties. He has a sibling that attends school as well. When we were waiting in car line a group of girls talked about how they feel so bad for the sibling because of my student. Thankfully, neither student or sibling heard.
