Thoughts on EMTM (Executive Masters of Science in Technology Management) degrees from top ivies or MIT and Stanford, are they worth it and valuable if not competitive against EMBA and MBA holders from these schools in consulting for moving up?

Sounds like a made-up degree

Accenture 1, it does right. These pratically are Tech MBA programs.

If you do SI work an MBA is useless, if you do strategy it’s not,

I agree, the mba just makes a generalist, not an expert in anything. I could see why it was the gold standard atleast until 2001. But everything has become digital. Understanding the nuances of operations would help for managing budgets and resources I would think.

OP - what are you trying to get out of this program? Would you not become more knowledgeable by being on the right project? Genuinely curious.

Thanks for the question, besides checking the box as having the proper level of education on file to manage projects if not compete for higher roles like Partner or principle. A few of the programs provide C-level personal mentorship, which I want, since it hard to have a day to day guidance on project. Also, if I did not stay, I could venture out to procure my own contracts and manage a start-up. This is a rough- quick explanation. Hope this answers.

Don’t expect the same benefits you would get in a FT program

I know that, yea not what I was conveying but lets be honest it does help to address you what you are thinking

Watered down degree. My alma mater, INSEAD started a management masters a fee years before American schools did, and it's now general perceived as an MBA for people that can't do math and don't want to work as hard.

Hmm, so would that be more of a perception if not assumption? Would this be good for functional people? Alot of emba people bypass the Gmat and gre because it is not a requirement for those programs I have seen.

Look at who recruits at the programs you are interested in, and what roles. Is that what you want to do?

Look at the career reports from the programs you want, and see if those outcomes match your professional goals. Also consider the caliber of candidates admitted. I've seen masters of tech/engineering management be useful for people in F500 (think more industrial like GM, Caterpillar, Boeing, or maybe older tech like HP, Intel) roles, especially if that company was sponsoring the degree. The degeee led to manager positions in engineering, manufacturing and R&D, maybe IT. The degree did not really lend itself to business roles like consulting or customer success, nor did it really lead to roles in tech or product management. Don't just look for the word "technology" and assume the degree will open key doors at FAANG. The students in the program I have in mind were lower caliber than that university's top 10-15 bschool, and I think job outcomes and compensation reflected that.
