What are promotional raises looking like for your firm from associate to senior associate? Apparently GT is only doing a 7% raise (per multiple folks in the GT bowl). In the past, most folks have received at least 15% up to 25% if you exceeded expectations, from what I’ve seen. If other firms are higher, I might consider jumping boats because 7%, even mid pandemic is a slap in the face. Especially for someone who exceeded expectations.

My ultimate goal is to become a lawyer and i am wondering if its a good idea to try for a Senior Associate role in Mergers and Acquisition transaction services line to get an idea and to help my personal statement for my law school application to show i am already equipped with experience from accounting perspective in mergers and acquisitions which lawyers deal with a lot. What do you think makes more sense:
a) Stay in audit and get M1 promo this year, and then later try to transfer to FDD at manager level.
b) Move to FDD right now as S3, settle in at more relaxed pace but only hit M1 promo in 2 years.

I’m starting the transfer process from audit to FDD soon. (Meeting for coffee, general questions about the department etc) Do you have reading suggestions or must knows/do?
